Romorantin is one of the older stations in Orleanais, built by EFL in 386 AGS. It once was an important shipping point and a place where mining companies brought ores mined from various parts of the vast Loire Asteroid Field. For some time, the station was also used to build and maintain ships and build components for jump gates assembled to connect Orleanais with Lyonnais and Berry. Beuvron Debris Field was formed in 450-550 AGS as a result of active space construction activity. Since then, economic activity in the area has been declining steadily. Loire asteroids proved to be difficult to mine, and nowadays no mining activity legally takes place in the asteroid field. Ship construction improvements resulted in transport ships not having to stop for refuels on their way through Orleanais' trade lane system. Romorantin remains a legendary place where descendants of the first Orleanais space settlers still reside, but the port currently has very few shipping contracts to keep it alive. EFL loses billions every year to keep the station operational, and despite the resistance of the local community, the company schedules to scrap the port in 740 AGS or even earlier. Currently, the stations income is primarily derived from sales of Mining Machinery to GMS facilities in Berry, Auvergne, and Provence. The station also houses EFL's only stockpile of Prometheum.
