One of the essential studies of Nomad technology was on their energy production and energy cells. A new research base was built in the Omicron-100 system far outside normal system traffic. The Carthage was stationed away from the eyes of their enemies as well as their own agents. There, an Osiris class battleship with increased cargo room for laboratories and scientific tools was prepared.

Battleship Thebes was an experimental capital ship built by the Order. This revolutionary vessel put into practise several studies of Nomad technology, including the Nomad energy distribution and power cells. These modifications allowed the Order to power a ship several times the size of the Osiris. Construction of the space frame was costly, but the Order deemed it worthwhile - the Horus class, as it was designated, would become a selfcontained colony, with ship production, civilian quarters, a carrier bay that could accomodate up to 40 fighters and 3 gunships, and an experimental micro-jumphole generator that would theoretically allow the ship to travel vast distances in seconds. Launch was scheduled for 817 A.S., but circumstances altered the plans.

Instead of building a fleet of Osiris class battleships to defend Minor and the rest of Sirius against the Nomads, High Command ordered the construction of a new gigantic Order dreadnought class ship.

In 816 A.S., Nomad activity in the Omicrons rose significantly, especially in Omicron Minor. Order analysts suspected a major attack was inbound, not unlike the attack that almost destroyed their base at the end of the Nomad War. Unwilling to suffer another critical loss as such, Order tacticians drew up an emergency evacuation plan. The Horus-class could accomodate most, if not all of the Order forces in Omicron Minor, and relocate them, safely out of reach.

This new Horus class ship with the name Thebes would be a fortress and serve as deep space outpost, shipyard, and battleship at the same time, planned to be a mobile base of operations in case of an emergency.

As predicted, the Nomad attack came, but the strength of the Nomad fleet had been greatly underestimated. Desperate, the Order even reached out to their human enemies, the LSF and the Core. While both groups sent ships, the battle was already decided before it began. There was no way the human fleets could stand against the Nomads - who had combined almost every single ship they had in the Omicrons. The Order had only one choice - Evacuate to the Thebes, and flee.

In the following years massive resources were directed into the shipyard. Slowly, the behemoth grew in the depths of the shipyard. The Thebes' security was increased, a fleet of 1 carrier and 4 reseph cruisers as well as 2 fighter squadrons were staioned near it. With the research of the reseph jamming devices, a large, long range jammer satellite was built to hide the shipyard from all long range scans. The Guard patrols had orders to keep every ship without the right ID code away even if it was an Order agent.

The Order knew the micro-jumphole engine could not be traced - but any ships left behind would also be unable to follow. A frantic evacuation of Toledo commenced. The Order knew that if the organisation was to survive, enough people and equipment had to be moved to the Thebes before the Nomad fleet broke through their defenses. In less then four hours, they had accomplished their goal: Thebes was loaded, and her engines were charging. Whatever ships could disengage and dock with the Thebes were brought aboard - but the Order capital ships had nowhere to go, and continued to delay the inevitable.

In 816 A.S., Nomad activities started to increase in the Omicrons as well as the threat of an ever increasing Core presence. After long discussions held behind closed doors, High Command decided to move Thebes to top priority and focus completely on its completion. With the new resources, the Thebes was finished faster than ever imagined.

Leaving the battle behind her in a blinding flash, Thebes was thrown across Sirius. The experimental engines overloaded and were destroyed as the ship started its jump, but were successful in moving the ship. The Thebes was rendered immobile. Toledo had been lost, and spirits aboard the ship were low, but the majority of the Order survived, and could begin the task of rebuilding. Only a handful of survivors from Toledo would later join them in what was designated Omicron Mu, describing the total annihilation of the human fleets, and Toledo's surface.

The primary fleet sacrificed scheduled maintenance and retrofits in order to finish the construction faster. Still no one really had a solution to the biggest problem: How to move such a massive ship?

A young scientist found the key to move Thebes finally. By using the same algorithms of the Nomad energy cell, he managed to alter the power waves to give life to Thebes' engines.

There were no field tests to be done as almost days after the initial construction was completed, a massive Nomad fleet was spotted in Delta, on a course headed directly to Minor. The Order fleet tried to hold the aliens at bay in Delta but couldn't manage to resist against such a fleet, especially when the Core fleet used this conflict as a chance to strike Omicron Minor while the defenses were weak.

The battle was bloody and the Order had to accept the defeat and retreat.

Swiftly, the transport and rescue ships moved away everything they could from the Order's home base, giving priority to women and children. Order ships fled towards Omicron-100, where damaged and retreated Order ships managed to set up a second defensive line.

Quickly the Order command ordered the Thebes out of the dry dock. All transports and some damaged warships docked with Thebes while the rest of the Order fleet covered the jump. Thebes then initiated the jump sequence to a previously uncharted, newly found star system, Omicron Mu.

Omicron Mu turned out to be the Thebes' and the Order's last stop as no field testing had been completed, and no one foresaw the outburst of energy that erupted from the engines, causing Thebes to lose its ability to move after a short while in Omicron Mu, rendering the ship incapable of using its engines ever again. Thebes is now the operations base of the Order in their new home, Omicron Mu.
