Independent Worlds are buffer zones between the four main houses. While being relatively safe to travel due to occasional house patrols, they still provide a safe haven for various political and criminal elements in the houses, like the Xenos, Liberty Rogues and Lane Hackers. These systems also house some notable Freeports.
