Fighter Gun

Class 10 Guns are used with Very Heavy Fighters, Super Heavy Fighters, and a small number of Freighters. Other fighter classes do not typically provide class-10 hard-points, and therefore cannot use these weapons.

Class 10 Guns are the most powerful fighter guns in the game, in terms of raw damage. They consume extreme amounts of energy, but have huge damage potential. Very few Class 10 Guns can be bought from NPCs, and most of those are faction-specific weapons that cannot be used by the general public.

The majority of the Class 10 guns are CODENAME prototype weapons. These weapons tend to be more powerful than Class 9 Guns (but not always), and are usually more energy effecient. CODENAME weapons do Direct damage, so the shield technology in use by the target does not affect the amount of energy damage that is taken (it is neither increased nor reduced). CODENAME weapons are classified as Civilian tech, and can be used by anyone with any affiliation (except Nomads), which also makes them useful as complements to house-specific weapons. Overall, these weapons are not significantly more powerful than the Class 9 faction weapons, but they provide flexibility to fighter loadouts. These guns are only attainable from looting wrecks, and the listed price is what an NPC will pay for them. But since these weapons can only be obtained by players, the actual value is typically much greater.

Some of the Capital Ship Forward Guns are also Class 10 Guns. It is technically possible to mount those weapons on a fighter or a freighter, however those ships cannnot produce enough power to fire the guns.
