Augsburg Orbital Colony was built by Rheinland Government and Interspace Commerce as a perfect place of living for Rheinland elite away from unhospitable republican planets. Augsburg is known as the largest space station built by humans in Sirius Sector, its life supports systems can handle over 7 thousand colonists. Large food-producing biodomes and efficient solar batteries will surely become an example for building many other civilian stations in Rheinland - and beyond.

The Augsburg Orbital Colony originally began construction in 781 A.S., but did not finish until 805 A.S., due to a shortage of funding. It was an effort by the Rheinland government to experiment with orbital cities in order to increase available living space without the need for planetary environments. Built around a modular design for easy upgrades, with large food producing biodomes and efficient solar and nuclear powered storage batteries, it is one of the largest space stations ever constructed, with a current population capacity of over a million people.

Unfortunately, due to the final cost of construction, stretched out over twenty five years, the apartments onboard Augsburg were too expensive for the average citizen to afford, and as a consequence it has since become a refuge for the wealthy elite who don't want to live on the cold and cluttered planets of Rheinland.
