Known Information

Buzz Martin is believed to be a Freelance pilot that operates throughout Liberty. He is known by only a select few on Freeports and Neutral bases by this name, to everyone else he's identified as Buzzard. Hardly any background information can be salvaged to form a useful profile as his links to the criminal underworld has given him oppertunities to change his name. With this advantage he has done so several times and wiped his records of his past in the process. He does not use the name he has currently casually with his dealers, but instead keeps the records to gain access through Liberty Jump Gates and pass spot checks by the LPI. His true birth name is still not known but the second name of one of his identities did stick with those who know and deal with him; Hence the name Buzz Martin. Being a Freelancer Buzz works for himself, earning a margin any way he can be it from house cleaning missions or errends from neutral, lawful and unlawful bases. However rumours will say that he is a skilled smuggler and often moves contraband and unlicensed goods into Liberty, and sometimes even onto Planet Manhattan itself. This cannot be confirmed as Buzz has never been caught doing said acts of crime and usually passes spot checks for legal cargo and weaponry. Since Buzz has never been caught shipping dirty goods into Liberty, authorities do not have him registered as a known threat putting him way down their priority list. This in turn may play into his hands, but it seems Buzz only gets caught if he wants to be.

For the past few years Buzz has been seen flying a single freighter class ship. Liberty authorities do not register it in their database but it has all the characteristics of Corsair engineering. Rumours from Freeport 4 say it is one of the newest vessels off the Corsairs production line, known as the Correo. Specific details of it's chassis, weaponry and capability are still not known to Liberty authorities. Information being no longer shared with Rheinland gives Liberty no oppertunity to gain further information to Corsair activities within the Omicrons and Omegas. He has also been seen participating in operations with the Junkers and sometimes Rogues in indirect attacks upon lawful targets which suggests his ship is capable of more than smuggling. Buzz has given his ship the signature 'Corona', and this piece of information serves vitally to his identification. But however much the Bounty Hunters Guild and Liberty authorities try he always seems to slip off the radar.

A single incident has been recorded where Buzzard was identified within Magellan by LPI officers and was ordered to stop for inspection. Buzz didn't reply to the hails and continued to fly to his destination, remaining out of scanner range. Police officers persued as he jumped to the Kansas system and continued his voyage across Kansas and diving lower into the stellar plane. He then slipped off the radar within the Kansas matter cloud and was not seen again until he was spotted by Zoners at Freeport 2 some time later.

Nobody is sure how he manages to escape from authorities and hunters so easily, but he is no pilot to be anticipated or intimidated.

History

Little information can be salvaged from Buzz Martin's past but a few incidents and sightings have been recorded and retained before he could erase it. Also on record are the amount of times he has changed his name and a few of his confirmed past identities.

Incident #1

A ship with the insignia 'Corona' was spotted with a small band of Liberty Rogues fighters by a neutral freelance pilot in New York. The pilots seemed to be holding up a Universal Shipping convoy headed for California. The convoy was said to be hauling light arms to Bretonia before the Liberty Rogues and the Corona made off with half of their payload. The perpetraitors were never caught and identification of the Corona was never confirmed.

Incident #2

A ship with a similar frame and chassis to Buzzard's was seen attacking a Bounty Hunter listening post out in Bering by Zoners out of Freeport 2. The ship was not believed to be accompanied by any other vessels in the area but it returned into the direction of Pacifica base after dealing some damage to the listening post.

Incident #3

A Liberty Rogues turncoat claimed to have spoken with him aboard Buffalo Base; a hidden Liberty Rogues base in the Badlands of New York. He claimed that Buzz rarely dealt in Cardamine, or at least had not brought any into Buffalo. The most recent shipment to Buffalo was a shipment of Artifacts from an Unknown source. As quoted from the interrogation the Rogue turncaot asked Buzz where he'd obtained the Artifacts and he replied with "Buckle up Dorothy" and ignored further queries. This is a possible link to the superstitious rumours hanging around the Kansas matter cloud. Further interrogation told that Buzz never dealt in Cardamine alone but always shipped it with something else in the hold. But when he usually puts down on Buffalo it's to deal in Arms or Artifacts. He only tends to bring small amounts of Cardamine for private orders from specific people.

Incident #4

A medium sized corsair vessel was spotted in the Reppu cloud in Kepler decapacitating a number of Kusari Naval Forces weapons platforms. A passing Universal transport recorded some video footage proving the incident and an outline of a ship similar to the Corona can be seen in the cloud. A number of kusari pilots were also shot down in the incident and their status is still currently MIA. The KNF have supplied records that tell the same story.

The Corona

The Corona is the only thing to identify Buzz by what he is. No matter how many times he may change his identity he has never changed the signature on his vessel which may seem strange as it will make the identification swap completley irrelevant. Buzz is a smart man so he must know this but what stops him from changing the name must be something religious or bonding to him. The ship itself has been confirmed as a Corsair class ship known as the Correo. Most stats are still unknown but to those that have seen him in action say it is a very 'surprising' vessel and is not to be anticipated. Buzz is known to frequent the Barrier Gate Station, and to those who have seen his ship on the landing pad describe it as a rugged vessel capable of absorbing alot of punishment. Little information could be obtained from mechanics because of the contract they have of anonymity on the Barrier gate. It is believed that Buzz will not let anyone else touch his vessel anywhere else but the Barrier Gate repair bay, any other critical repairs are usually done by himself.
