Constructed inside a hollowed out asteroid within the Tau-23 system, Cali base was initially built in 734 A.S. as a small refuelling outpost for Outcast smugglers. It has been substantially upgraded over the years to become one of the most important forward bases for the Edge World Pirates, particularly in light of the recent discovery, and breaching of the minefields blocking the entrances into Gallia.

Fighting between the Outcasts and the Independent Miners Guild is prevalent throughout the system. Outcast raiders frequently ambush IMG Transports, making off with a decent portion of the cargo moving to and from Java.
