Fluorine is the lightest halogen, and at standard temperature and pressure it is a pale yellow gas. Fluorides are compounds containing inorganic Fluorine, and are the most widely used form of the element. The most widespread uses of inorganic Fluoride are steel manufacturing and aluminium refining. Organic Fluorine compounds tend to have high chemical and thermal stability, making them useful as refrigerants. Elemental Fluorine can be used in the production of nuclear fuels, and is also used in terraforming gas mixtures.
