Kawada Research Complex was built in 791 A.S., in conjunction with Blood Dragon engineers, primarily to study the Ekitei Pulsar, but also as a secluded location where work on new weapons and ship testing could proceed away from prying eyes. Several weapons have been released for Golden Chrysanthemums to use during recent years, including the development of their advanced Suncannon photon blasters. There are rumoured to be other weapons under development.

The station uses an experimental power generation concept, which captures periodic bursts of energy from the pulsar using large collector dishes (often mistaken for solar panels by passing ships) and releasing this energy gradually into the station's energy grid. While still somewhat unreliable, this has allowed the scientists on the station to conduct research using energy bursts several orders of magnitude bigger then conventional reactors can provide, and reduces the fuel requirements for the conventional fusion reactor.
