Origin

Kusari Empire and Kingdom of Bretonia were involved Tau War which initially was to remove Bretonian influence over Taus but in course of heated conflict it turned into incursion of Kusari Naval Forces into Bretonia. When KNF had taken technical control of Leeds and both sides prepared for long siege of New London, an unknown foe - which later turned out to be Kingdom of Gallia - entered Taus and Northern Bretonia then proceded to demolish both Bretonian and Kusari navies. KNF received the major blows and their front became cut in half, leaving several capital ships in Bretonia - later it would be known as Kusari Exiles. To prevent further conflict and to calm down civilian population, several high-ranking commanders within KNF - along with supposed help from Kishiro Technologies - made a coup d'etat in which Emperor Jien Kogen was deposed of his rule and forced to leave Kusari. Kusari itself had been reformed into Democratic Republic of Kusari and peace with Kingdom of Gallia was brokered.
