Northeim is the main Red Hessian pilot training and fighter production facility. Hidden deep within the metal rich rocks of the Odenwald, the base itself is surrounded by a number of man-made hazard areas within which new Hessian pilots learn the art of survival in the dangerous Omega border worlds. Experienced fighter aces are known to refer to it as "the factory", due to the rigorous discipline and radical training programs involved.
Northeim itself was first designed as a generic asteroid base, to offload some of the workload of training new troops from Vogtland. It was officially opened in early 766 A.S. and has been growing in importance ever since. With the construction of its own fighter manufacturing line in 780 A.S., Northeim was retasked into a dedicated training facility, and has been responsible for the majority of the hardened Hessian fighter pilots serving on the Omega-5 front line since.
