Planet Memel is a scorching hot, caustic world with a thick carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide atmosphere that produces a strong greenhouse effect. Surface temperatures ranging from 325°C to 421°C, combined with fierce volcanic activity have caused the planet to be known as the "Witches' Cauldron" of Thuringia. Sandstorms whirl up toxic particles from the rough terrain and polish the ground. These storms can last for months and affect the weather across the entire planet. Particularly heavy storms can whirl up enough dust to darken the atmosphere for months, an event that occurs on average twice a year.
