Planet Tangier is a young, terrestrial planet orbiting it's sun at a considerable distance. It is a cold world with a minimal atmosphere that is just able to support life. With its thin crust however temperatures are known to fluctuate and gravitational and electromagnetic disruptions are common. Large quantities of carbon and aluminium have been noted underground, surrounded by large, compressed oxygen pockets. Considerable iron, titanium, magnesium and other metal deposits have also been noted.

Planet Tangier is a young, terrestrial planet orbiting its sun at a considerable distance. It is a cold world with barely enough atmosphere to support life and still largely burning under its moderately thin crust. The Planet has hundreds of active volcanoes and massive earthquakes that frequently decimate areas along the Planet’s faultlines. The main attraction of Tangier lies in its moderate, but easily accessible mineral deposits of Iron, Aluminum and Magnesium which are mined and sent up to the Viernheim Base for processing.

Tangier was once the scene of a colonisation attempt by the Corsairs although the settlement was thought to have failed and was abandoned. Later attempts by the Corsairs to discover the fate of their missing colonists were unsuccessful and the colony and its inhabitants were declared lost.  The planet fell under the Hessian sphere of influence after the Casablanca offensive of 811 A.S. Hessian survey expeditions to the planet  also revealed an abandoned Corsair installation but no trace of its occupants. The survey also found large amounts of minerals beneath the surface. In 816 A.S. a second expedition was launched to the planet, this time in order to construct a mining facility. Until a docking ring could be built, the mining colony would launch and receive specially designed atmospheric craft straight to or from the planet's thermosphere, supplying the orbiting Viernheim base with minerals ready for export to other Red Hessian bases.

The planet is still a scene of contention within the system. With their control of the planet by no means secure the Hessians maintain a vigorous defence of the area.

Tangier had previously been surveyed by the Corsairs before falling under Red Hessian control after the Casablanca offensive of 811 AS. In 816 A.S. multiple small expeditions were launched to the planet in order to occupy existing and construct new mining facilities with plans made to construct a docking ring in orbit to ease the supplying of Food and Water and the bring up of raw minerals.

By 824 AS, after eight years of difficult work, the docking ring of planet Tangier became active, easing the supply of food and water and also drastically expanding the transer of minerals for processing at Viernheim, the planet's orbital processing facility. The population of the small outpost grew as living conditions improved, and colonization of the planet continued in the areas of the planet confirmed most geolitically stable.

In 827 AS, Corsair forces overwhelmed the Red Hessian garrison at Viernheim, only to be driven back by the Coalition Carrier Alvin Katz. The loss of Viernheim left Tangier a much less valuable outpost, and Hessian economic calculus decided against rebuilding the orbital processor at the edge of their supply lines. By mutual agreement the Hessians left administration of the planet to the Coalition, though Hessians still come and go from the outpost, and some of the minerals dug from the planet still fuel the Hessian war machine. For its part, the Coalition intends to capitalize on the sacrifice of the Alvin Katz by expanding colonization of the planet.
