The iron ore deposits that were recently discovered on the nearby planet Huron have provided abudant materials to construct Toronto as well as a number of other stations in the Ontario system. Toronto Station became the primary settlement of Liberty in Ontario, a system that has long been considered unimportant due to lack of planets suitable for terraforming. When extended surveys proved the presence of other valuable mineral resources in the system, Toronto was expanded to house corporate workers, miners, police, and civilian authorities. The station also houses a small Platinum refinery which processes the ore mined from Huron.
