Originally started as an ambitious project by a group of enterprising Zoners from Baffin, the Kingfisher was aimed to become the next generation of heavy escort vessels. Though this endeavor fell short of expectations, unable to compete with the heavier and famous Eagle, the Kingfisher was almost abandoned if not for the investment of a rich Freelancer from Barrier Gate Station. While still slightly inferior to the trusted CTE-line, its new design and some heavy advertisement, made the Kingfisher become quite popular among Freelancers and other pilots seeking an alternative to the same old vessels while having pretty much no drawbacks.
