While the Light Miner and Heavy Miner are designed for day to day operations within a few hours range of a dockable habitat, the Gallic Metal Service designed the DS Series Miner to be capable of functioning for several days without being resupplied. The ship is often sent on long range prospecting missions without escort, but is also employed in short range mining work when stronger mining lasers are needed to cut through denser materials. A durable hull and generous weapons compliment make the ship capable of repelling assailants as well.
