Early life

Deneth Aleski (born Wilhelm Axel Aleski Ramstein) was born on Planet New Berlin to Jeannette Aleski (née Jeannette Ramstein), a nurse and Eckhard Aleski, an affluent Rheinland industrialist and ultra-nationalist. Wilhelm is the youngest of three, his twin seniors being Till Aleski and Markus Aleski, both 35.

They lived in Wolfsburgstadt, in the outskirts of the capital city of Planet New Berlin, New Berlin City.

Service in the Rheinland Military

Because of exceptional academic performances, Wilhelm Aleski was invited to attend the prestigious Military College of Rheinland at 18 years of age, bypassing the state mandatory conscription system altogether. He accepted the invitation with no hesitation and completed a 3 year Officer Training course, graduating with the Commissioned rank of Lieutenant.

After completing his first tour of duty onboard a carrier-class vessel, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and transferred to a land-based unit of the Rheinland Military on New Berlin. While details of this deployment remain highly classified, he served in an intelligence-gathering capacity. It is suspected that he served in a notorious black operations unit of the Rheinland land forces called "Unit 1140", nicknamed "Nightrage". They are alleged to have been behind many mysterious disappearances and assassinations of several well-known and vocal opponents of the Rheinland nationalist government.

The Red Hessians and escape to Bretonia

Shortly after deserting the Rheinland Military and assuming a low profile, Aleski decided to join the Red Hessian political movement through a contact he had acquired during a previous infiltration mission. He joined the RHA, the armed faction of the Hessian movement, as a fighter pilot, where he distinguished himself as being a calculated, patient and opportunistic dogfighter, taking full advantage of the mistakes of his opponents.

After an assassination attempt that nearly cost his life during a meeting with LWB militants on the Stuttgart planetside, Aleski fled Rheinland altogether, seeking political refugee status in Bretonia. He will reach the Kingdom of Bretonia through Leeds with his Odin VHF, badly damaged and stripped of weapons.

Caught in the midst of war with Kusari, Bretonian officials offered Aleski permanent residency in exchange for service in either the Bretonia Police Authority or the Bretonian Armed Forces, a policy used to handle incoming non-standard migrants from non-hostile houses. He accepted, choosing to enlist in the BAF and accepting the rank of Ensign.

Bretonian Armed Forces

Starting from the bottom of the rank structure, Aleski was automatically assigned to a fighter squadron in space. His first assignment was to one of the 5th Fleet's fighter squadrons based on HMS Suffolk. Despite Aleski's foreign origin, he quickly gained the acceptance and respect of his comrades, thanks in part to his dogfighting skills and expertise in dealing with Borderworld fighters.

Months after entering service with the 5th Fleet, while entering HMS Suffolk's fighter bay, his Templar VHF suffered a catastrophic failure which activated the ejection system inside the battleship. The fighter pilot was hurled upwards into the expansive fighter bay ceiling at forces in excess of 10 G. Aleski sustained heavy trauma to the head and had to be kept in a medically-induced coma for several weeks. He recovered with seemingly no permanent damage to the brain, only recurring episodes of dizziness and migraine.

On the eve of a large military campaign in the Dublin sector, Deneth Aleski was transferred to the 6th Fleet "Royal Londonderry Flying Men" Mixed Combat Squadron, bassed on HMS-Essex. Aleski was simultaneously promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Several weeks into his deployment, the HMS-Essex Medical Staff declared the pilot Unfit for Combat, as previously undetected brain damage from his previous incident began to manifest. His piloting abilities were impaired to such an extent that flying in a combat role became impossible. To Aleski's insistence, his superiors recommended for him to be transferred to an administrative unit rather than facing discharge from military service. In the end, he was formally transferred to the BAF Royal Logistics & Support Branch, serving aboard the HMS Harlow as a communications specialist directly under the Fleet Admiral of the time, Sir Martin Bridge. As the Fleet Admiral's spokesperson and representative, Aleski developed a close friendship with Admiral Bridge. After reaching the rank of Captain, Aleski became the commanding officer of the Harlow's communication staff and effectively controlled much of the Armed Forces communication structures. He will be awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his role in modernizing internal communication systems in the midst of war, among other military and civil achievements.

In 818 A.S., Captain Deneth Aleski was summoned by Fleet Admiral James Ralston, on advice of the Admiralty Board, to become the Military Governor of Newcastle and commanding officer of the 11th Fleet based on HMS-Grimsby, one of two Bretonian battleships permanently based in the Newcastle sector. Soon after, his assignment became permanent and was subsequently appointed to the rank of Admiral and was given a chair in the Admiralty Board.

Months later, Admiral Aleski requested to resign from his command duties for reasons unspecified. It is widely believed that he resigned due to health issues, allegations which remain unconfirmed to this day. His request was accepted and was immediately decommissioned.

On the eve of an imminent Gallic invasion, Wilhelm Deneth Aleski requested to re-enlist in the BAF - his request was accepted by Fleet Admiral James Ralston himself, re-appointing him to the rank of Commodore. He was also back given his seat on the Admiralty Board. Weeks later, he was re-instated to the rank of Admiral, partly due to organizational needs. He served as the Armed Forces Military Liaison Officer, acting as the primary point of contact and coordination for all factions - military or civil - working against Royal Gallic forces.

Most recently, Admiral Aleski was appointed the role of Commanding Officer of the 5th Great Suffolk Fleet, based on the HMS-Suffolk.

Current whereabouts

Admiral Deneth Aleski disappeared under mysterious circumstances in late 819 A.S. People close to the former officer and chair of the Admiralty Board claim that in the days before his disappearance, he was acting in "a very erratic", "nervous", "tensely preoccupied" and "distant" manner. Deneth Aleski was known among his peers and subordinates as a calm, deliberate person with "a somewhat sunny disposition".

An investigation was launched just two days after he failed to show up at a meeting with senior Bretonian Government officials as it was feared he was abducted. However, preliminary findings rule out such an outcome (no signs of forced entry into his home, lack of evidence pointing towards foul play, etc). Although the investigation is still ongoing, it is suggested that he likely suffered an episode of PTSD-induced psychosis (a condition for which Aleski is a known sufferer), possibly going into hiding as a result. Some of his personal items were missing from his home, suggesting he left deliberately.

Deneth Aleski hasn't been heard of or seen as of late 819 A.S. His military status is currently "Missing In Action - Status Unknown". As per Bretonian law regarding death in absentia, he will be declared legally dead in 829 A.S. should he not be found or heard of until then.

Ships

Because of accumulated head injuries sustained both in combat and in non-combat related military service, Admiral Deneth Aleski was declared unfit for combat and is thus prohibited from participating in combat situations in a combat/strike craft. Similarly, because of his leadership role in the Armed Forces bureaucracy, the officer only rarely commands capital vessels.
