During the Battle of Glasgow, where Kusari forces decisively struck through the Tau 31 gate, the invaders played the obsolete internal defences to their advantage, by distracting the external defences and the Derby with their own capital ship battlegroups. With the defences preoccupied, this left the Nagasaki free to dispatch assault craft containing elite Kusari boarding marines, the Tokubetsukeibitai. In a surprise attack the commandos were able to kill enough defenders to gain access to the command rooms and gain partial control of the station's external weapon systems.
