On a routine training exercise with his mentor around the outskirts of [[Bastille]], Ezreal performed an inverted maneuver that caused him to accelerate intensely and lose contact with his instructor for a few minutes. During this time he noticed a piece of debris near his ship, an odd occurrence considering the system he was in. Ezreal beamed the debris to his cargo bay, and a scan determined that it was a non-functional jump drive. Ezreal used his neural net uplink to research jump drives and later developed a plan to collect the materials needed to repair his find.

Three years of junking and he managed to collect enough material to repair the jump drive he found so long ago. By this time, Ezreal was given free flight access four hours a day due to good behavior and a general fascination of his aviation abilities by the [[Police Prison Station]] staff. He got into his [[Bull Dog]] and installed the jump drive with the intent to exit [[Bastille]] permanently. The jump drive functioned and created a minor worm hole, but Ezreal forgot to input jump coordinates and entered a blind jump.

When he exited the worm hole, Ezreal found that his [[Bull Dog]] aviation scanner wasn't responding and the neural net was not accessible. Little did he know, he was in the [[Omicron-92]] system. He flew towards what he presumed to be north for hours, trying to tell himself that the asteroids weren't the same ones he saw fifteen minutes ago. Beginning to grow hopeless, Ezreal then heard a voice that sounded rather close. He looked around and noticed an almost translucent ship only a few meters away from him. He immediately recognized it. The ship was a small [[Nomad]]. Ezreal's [[Bull Dog]] was not outfitted with weapons of any kind, so he began to pray. But the Nomad showed no signs of hostility, and after a few seconds it spoke to Ezreal in English. He was unaware if the communication was physical or a mental connection, but the Nomad offered to guide him out of the system. Ezreal followed the Nomad for a few hours and through a few systems until they reached [[Omicron Alpha]]. The Nomad then left without saying anything and Ezreal took shelter on the nearest planet, [[Planet Malta]].

Ezreal was right at home in the presence of Outcasts. They were vile, arrogant people, and even quicker to fight than he was. They liked to insult his augmentations though, calling Ezreal things like "cyber boy" and "robo cop". He didn't take kindly to it, and many bar fights ensued during his time there. Ezreal quickly saved up enough cash to travel to [[Planet New Tokyo]], his home planet. But he carried with him an unknown souvenir. Thanks to the Maltese atmosphere, and those [[cardamine]] cigarettes he had bummed in all the bars he visited, he'd become mentally dependent on the drug.

After three weeks on Malta, Ezreal took off in his Bull Dog, sights set on New Tokyo. He reached the Sigma-19 system before entering a cardamine withdrawal induced coma. Ezreal's ship collided with an asteroid head on while at cruise speeds, crushing the aircraft completely. Over time, he drifted out of the rubble and into space, still comatose.
