Mine Fields
Omicron Eta Mine Field
After 761 A.S., when a path from Omicron Theta to Omicron Eta was discovered, Eta became an arena of endless fighting between Corsairs and Outcasts. Until 780 A.S., the Corsairs usually gained the upper hand, and their assault fleets were sometimes seen as far as planet Malta. In 780 A.S:, however, two Outcast Dreadnoughts with several Destroyers jumped into the system and defeated a large Corsair fleet that was preparing for assault against Omicron Alpha. Despite the victory, Corsairs still held a large part of the system under their control. To secure passage into Omicron Alpha, Outcasts set up a large mine field, effectively preventing any large Corsair ships from venturing deeper inside the system. Immediately behind the mine field, Palermo Base was constructed to provide additional defenses and to supply local Outcast patrols.
