Originally a warship of the Gallic Royal Navy tasked with the defense of the occupied Tau-44 system, Battleship Oblique eventually deserted along with the rest of her battlegroup in 822 A.S. and helped the joint forces of the Council and the Crayter Republic in their battle to reclaim the former Crayter capital. Once secured, the Oblique moved onto the Provence system almost two years after its desertion, under Council's colors.
The battleship and her accompanying forces hid in the Mer Mediterrainee, preparing an attack against the local royalist defenses. In late 825 the Council decided it was time to strike, and ordered Battleship Oblique to move out of the cloud and engage Battleship Arles.
