"This should be fun." - Hunt, 823 A.S, the Battle of Freeport 11.
Joshua Hunt is a well known engineer and co-founder of Auxesia, with a history in various other organizations, and responsible for the thefts of two warships.
Origin
Joshua Avery Hunt was born on May 30th, 785 A.S. To this day, he's never discerned the identities of his biological parents. His father had died prior to his birth, while his mother died during child birth. Hunt was adopted by a close family friend, identified as Elijah Phillips Senior. His adoptive mother died while he was seven, due to ovarian cancer. His adoptive father, Eli Senior, died during the Rheinland-Liberty war, in 817 A.S, in Texas. Hunt was left alone with his brother, Elijah Phillips Junior. Prior, however, Hunt was enrolled at the Denver university, and graduated with honors to earn a masters degree in engineering. A year later, he had enlisted within the Liberty Navy, and was sent to West Point, to be taught under Colonel Douglas Kovic. Hunt later graduated basic flight and officers training from West Point in 808 A.S, and entered service for ten years.
Nearing the middle of 818 A.S, during his service on board the LNS-Forward Unto Dawn, a Monument-Class Dreadnought. Hunt had earned the title of Commander, and was to be transferred to the First Fleet under Admiral Jack Malrone. It was here, however, his career came to an abrupt end. During a skirmish in Colorado, Hunt was pushed into command of the Dawn when Admiral Harkavey was rendered incapacitated after a skirmish with local pirate warship elements. The vessel its self had sustained an engine malfunction, and came face to face with the Legion Battleship Libertine. The call to evacuate was given, yet one eighth of the crew, including Joshua Hunt, did not escape the the loss of the Forward Unto Dawn. Hunt was forced to obtain spinal correction surgery and implants to remain standing.
Time in The Hellfire Legion
Near the closing of the year, Joshua Hunt was spotted by the Liberty Navy flying Hellfire Legion colors, operating an HF-V Series Prosecutor, a vessel he still has to this day. Hunt sought revenge on Malrone for being lead to his near death, and the loss of many of his comrades. After a brief confrontation in California, the conflict identified as the Battle of Humboldt (819 A.S) began, between the Legion, Liberty Rogues, and a large contingent of Maltese vessels. During the initial combat, Joshua Hunt was on board the Battleship Libertine - the very warship that ended his Naval career. Once they had broken through the Maltese line, Hunt realized the conflict for his nation was gaining no ground by fighting the degenerates in the backwaters of Liberty, and took his leave. He was declared missing in action, until the Hellfire Legion suffered an internal struggle, and seemingly went dark. During his time within their ranks, Hunt was nearing the rank of Major and beginning to partake in the Special Operations And Reconnaissance Division as a trainee.
After The Legion
Resurfacing once again under the alias 'Archangel', Hunt began to work as a Freelance contractor in the borders of Liberty space. Eventually earning a hefty sum of credits, he purchased the Deep Space Engineering sub-company identified as Tesla Shipping & Mining under the alias Leonard Dunn. Rebuilding the company from their near bankruptcy, Hunt had obtained a steady source of income to fuel the fires that had burnt wildly within his lost mind. In 820 A.S, Hunt left Liberty for the Omicrons, beginning to work on the project identified as 'Dawnbreaker I' (Later, Dawnbreaker II). Returning to Liberty space in 821 A.S with a list of names, Hunt began to make calls and ask questions. However, during his travels, his vessel had become incapacitated, and he ended up within the care of a Corsair smuggler known as Tuco Ramirez.
After hours spent on Crete in a bar, Hunt was accused of cheating at a game of cards by Tuco, who proceeded to draw his sidearm to kill Joshua. Hunt however, had kept his at the ready beneath the table, and shot before the Cretan could stand up. Per the tradition of Tuco's organization, Hunt was pushed into leadership unwillingly. Within a week, he was forced out by the Brotherhood Council of Elders due to not being a Corsair. However, Hunt siphoned several hundred million credits from the Violet Suns, purchasing an Oasis liner in Omicron Theta to serve as a mobile workshop and headquarters for his project. As he returned to central space, he was informed of a brilliant Bretonian mind who had once worked for a private research institution in Rheinland. It was here where Joshua Hunt met Geoff Enfield, and the real work began.
Spending months tracking down people and items for this illusive project, Hunt had devolved into an apathetic madman with one goal in mind - Conquest. To use his greatest invention to control all those who failed to control themselves. As his work continued with the aid of many eccentric individuals, he found himself in Baffin to aid in the defense of the Autonomous Zoners from the onslaught of Michal Golanski in the summer of 821 A.S. Finishing up his work there, Hunt and Enfield traveled to Kansas to revive history - The Junction wreck. During the initial repair survey, a Nomad Guardian identified as 'Harbinger' made several attempts on Hunt's life, in which (according to many) Hunt left Geoff behind. This was as many believed, the last time Joshua Hunt was spotted in Liberty, for he had taken his work to Omicron Lost where his liner was destroyed, the Dawnbreaker I was lost, his legs were removed, and his final resting place should've been.
Resurfacing
Over the months of 822 A.S, a man named Augustin Pierce was using Hunt's aliases and intel to construct an organization. Tracking down many people and constructing a hidden facility, Pierce intended to create a criminal empire, and mass produce many of Joshua Hunt's projects to sell to the highest bidder. Foiled when he discovered Hunt was barely alive, he devised a plan to eliminate anyone connected to the Dawnbreaker I. His plan was foiled when Hunt had awoken seven months later with a new set of metallic legs, and shot Pierce in the neck. Hunt then claimed control of Pierce's empire, and turned it into a means of repentance. However, the haunting thought of his original goal still shook the foundation of his mind. Unable to escape his inner demon, he returned to work on his project, greatly improving upon the original design. Eventually, he became friends with Sapphire Raven, whom down the line of a long journey, helped him confront that which haunted him deep inside.
Within the beginning of 823 A.S, Joshua Hunt disbanded his organization and turned over the assets once belonging to the Aegis Initiative to Battlegroup Auxesia, joining their ranks under the guise of Curator Endurance. He has since remained with their organization, and it's believed he continues his work on the Dawnbreaker II.
Life in Auxesia
In more recent times, Joshua Hunt remained in service as the Curator to the slowly growing group known as Auxesia, assisting and advising in various reforms with the Battlegroup, as it had effectively doubled in size and began to pick up more momentum with the addition of the Cincinnati to its ranks. His personal relationship becoming more public knowledge, some within the fleet are acutely aware of his connection with Keeper Sapphire Raven, and their child, which became one of the most well guarded secrets inside the organization. That, however, does not prevent his own problems. Joshua Hunt suffered a significant amount of mental stress and trauma within the year of 819 A.S, effectively having a mental breakdown, that occasionally flares up in dire situations. The symptoms he experiences such as visual hallucinations and personality switches can easily be linked to schizophrenia, but has since been ruled as over-active Dissosiative Identity Disorder. Be that as it may, it hasn't stopped him from serving faithfully for the cause of technology. It has never been specified if he began to follow the religious beliefs of The Devoted or not.
With the reforming of Auxesia and restructuring, as well as entering full conflict with The Order, Hunt sacrificed the persona of Curator Endurance and adopted the name Leviathan. Several successful operations, diplomatic arrangements and obtaining rare technology had allowed him to ascend to the rank of Keeper alongside the organization's founder as an adviser and co-leader, often handling the more diplomatic and tactical scenarios, whilst still putting his ingenuity to use for the fleet from time to time in a workshop.
Outside of his duties, a lot of his time is dedicated to his family to ensure his offspring is raised appropriately in the new world.
Obtaining the Arktos
A little prior to being awoken from his injuries in Omega-9, Augustin Pierce had put an old plan of action in to play to take control of the LNS-Cincinnati from the Liberty Navy.
Hunt had encountered Commodore Maverick O'Howell in 821 A.S, in order to gain the trust of several Navy Officials and hopefully sway them to his side. He had made contact with a variety of high ranking officers, including Rachel Baker and Rohj Teerin, posing as a Black Ops agent for a covert division in Liberty. Baker had made him for who he is right away however, recalling him from an encounter when Hunt was still in the Hellfire Legion, and having flown beside him prior to his defection. Nevertheless, Hunt had explained his plan to design something that might stop Gallia in their tracks, in attempt to appeal to their need of ending the war that was closely approaching the Republic of Liberty. Rachel Baker reluctantly agreed to hear him out when Hunt rescued her and an Ensign named Helene Dupuis from an approaching Buro vessel, which he used to his advantage by appearing hostile to Rheinland.
When Hunt met with Maverick after sneaking through the jumphole system in to Zone-21, he laid out the foundation for a defection. During this period, Joshua Hunt was being hunted by by a Nomad Guardian - Harbinger. The large Nomad appeared and attempted to destroy Hunt's liner and work, leaving the Cincinnati caught in the crossfire between the Nomad and the Oasis. Hunt activated his cloak and escaped, abandoning Maverick and his crew to the mercy of the Nomads. The Cincinnati was lost for nearly a week, with half of its crew dead from the attack. It was located when it drifted in range of Juneau Shipyard by Admiral Jack O'Neill. Maverick was left enraged by being caught in the middle of the assault, blaming Hunt for the loss of half of his crew.
In 822 A.S, Commodore O'Howell was being detained for insubordinate actions, after months of disagreeing with his superiors. The Cincinnati was placed under heavy escort in Colorado, between the Florida Keys and Odyssey, Overlord-Class dreadnoughts. As they departed from Pueblo, the Odyssey was cut off by an unidentified fighter disrupting the vessel from continuing. Within the Silverton field, the Cincinnati was liberated from its escorts and began its escape, with Maverick eagerly trying to save his crew from facing jail time. The aged Dreadnought broke through the asteroid field at full speed for the Ontario system, making for Bretonia.
When the vessel arrived in Manchester, it was intercepted by the Bretonians, and the Liberty Navy. Being outnumbered and outgunned, Pierce had planned ahead and contracted the then-Battlegroup Auxesia to distract the forces present, buying enough time for the Cincinnati to break free once again and in to New London. The chase was on, as the ESRD was closing in to catch the runaway vessel. Now entering the Omegas, the Cincinnati lost its pursuers in the Omega-9 Walker Nebula, formerly home of an abandoned Refinery, where it took refuge. The refinery was later uncovered to be a covert paramilitary headquarters, where Joshua Hunt had woken up and killed Pierce. Shocked at the revealing of the man who had put him in a position to lose half of his crew, Maverick O'Howell shot Hunt in his recently obtained cybernetic legs, failing to do any damage. Frustrated, he punched Hunt in the face, only to be faced with security teams armed with advanced rifles and combat armor, nearly outnumbering his crew.
After briefing Maverick on the next phase of the plan, Joshua Hunt began to once again work on his illusive hybrid-weapon project. They were interrupted by a Corsair fleet knocking on their doors. The refinery had been found with a Dreadnought moored to it, putting it at risk. The facility fell under attack, leaving the population to flee deeper in to the Omicrons. Re-organizing their next plan, the flotilla of vessels moved to Omega-49 and began to make contact with The Reapers of Sirius, and build a stronger relationship with Battlegroup Auxesia.
Months later, when Hunt had disbanded his organization and given all his assets to Sapphire Raven to reconstruct the fallen Battlegroup, the Cincinnati became a part of the deal, and was in need of an overhaul. Lacking a facility and the means to outfit it themselves, the Cincinnati was taken to the Taus at Singapore Shipyard to be outfitted by the Independent Miners Guild. The vessel saw extensive combat in the Omicrons, participating heavily in The Battle for Freeport 11 in defense of The Zoner populace. Maverick O'Howell grew a distaste for structured life in his later years however, and chose to retire along with some of his crew in Omega-49, leaving the ship to Hunt under the pretenses that "It be used for the right reasons." The vessel later saw a second refit and rechristening to the Arktos at Sabah Shipyard, and remained in service as his personal vessel in Auxesia for over a year.
The Arktos has since been returned to The Liberty Navy in the brokering of a peace agreement.
Obtaining the Andraste
The Andraste - Or Razgriz as it was known in The Order's Primary Recon division "Horus" - was stolen via coordination by Joshua Hunt and its commander Tantalus in an elaborate ruse.
With the conflict against The Order picking up mid-way through 823, Commander Tantalus of The Order reached out to Auxesia to offer their assistance, due to personal belief that the motives of The Order had changed. The Razgriz had been deployed to the Independent Worlds to assist in the removal of a significant Nomad threat, which - when the motives were uncovered to be personal involvement for one of his superiors - drew the line for Tantalus, as he disliked being used to rescue one person and risk the lives of his crew for someone's personal relationship.
A ruse was discussed on board the Eidolon to fake the destruction of the Razgriz, by using the stolen Cincinnati and several Guardians to pose as a missing Liberty Navy Battlegroup and attack the vessel in Magellan, separating it from its escorts and seeding the idea that it was destroyed by Liberty on its way to investigate potential hostile signatures. Blast charges were set on the outside of the vessel in reinforced positions, facing outwards to prevent severe structural damage. The charges were detonated when the last escort was fleeing to simulate the vessel going down. When the coast was clear, they made their way to Vieques Shipyard to receive aid from the Junkers to restore the Osiris, and put it in to service.
Near the beginning of 824 A.S as another Delta crisis had sprung up, Tantalus evaluated his worth on the field, and felt he'd be better suited in teaching recruits the Order's methods, thus turning the vessel over to Curator Leviathan - Joshua Hunt. The vessel then saw a refit to receive the Arktos' equipment and be brought up to official combat specifications, and now serves as Hunt's newest flagship.
