La Charite was built in 598-602 AGS by Nery Space Construction as a supplementary facility for Planet Bourges' docking ports. It was the first space building project for Nery, and its 4-year-long construction was plagued by a number of technical and administrative problems. At that time, the Crown was interested in creating more space corporations that would provide some fresh competition for the market. Nery received significant help from the government in order to get La Charite running. Operating the space port was a relative success for Nery compared to other stations that the company built. Yet, La Charite did not receive the amount of traffic that would ensure high profits, and Nery had to sell it to Solar Engineering when it ran into financial problems.

Solar operated the station in their usual fashion. A large part of the space port was sealed off as a "privately-owned habitat". Only a few onboard the station had access to that area. The rest of the station operated as a typical space port with extensive cargo storage and transfer facilities. Currently, La Charite is one of the primary transit points for the Robotics trade in Gallic space.
