Not wanting to draw the invaders attention to their home at Islay Base, they sought to lead their pursuers astray and headed some distance behind Planet Gaia. There they found the jump hole to Lewis and baffled the Gallic hostiles when they suddenly disappeared from long range scans.
After having their operations in Faroe stumped by Gallic forces, the Gaians were eager not to make the same mistake and soon began to heavily fortify their positions there. Glendale Base was hastily constructed as the systems main hub while Sandur Base's construction was underway.
But history having a tendency to repeat itself soon did. Upon completion of Glendale Base a jump hole to Orkney opened up in the system. The Gallic forces now surrounding the Gaians saw an opportunity to reunite their primary fleet with the cut off attack groups stationed in Edinburgh. The second onslaught of the Gallic horde upon the Gaians was crippling.
