Little is known about Radford other than it is a research facility under the control of the Liberty Navy exclusively. Of the projects being undertaken at Radford, little more is known then their codenames - unwarranted inquiries into the nature of these projects is considered a violation of Naval code, and grounds for immediate dismission. Even the Liberty Security Force (LSF) is unwelcome at this station.

Most likely however, the base is dealing in classified energy generation research, much like Benford and Ithaca did in the past. In 530 A.S., during the Kusari and Rheinland embargoes, Liberty learned the hard way that its lack of natural resources made it dependent on the other houses. However, if Liberty were to find a power source other then H-Fuel, Kusari would have no means to pressure the nation.

Whatever the nature, other then the occasional supply ships, the station perimiter is considered a Red Zone, meaning all unauthorised traffic may be fired upon without warning. The defenses of the station are another closely guarded secret, but assumed to be formidable.
