Shortly after arrival, he discovered that Kusari forces were experimenting with enhanced heavy weaponry, using the Heron-class KNS Izuka as a testing platform. In concert with several freelancers (all of which are suspected foreign intelligence agents), Roberts investigated the weapon after being instructed to focus on that instead of his initial assignment. Ultimately, Malachite was never deployed; its quick dual-shot system was exceptionally vulnerable to overloading and blown circuitry.
