Combat craft of the Widerstand

Compiled by Sarah "Sparks" McFarlen

Preface
Well, hey. The Bundschuh, perhaps more then any other organisation in Sirius, has adopted almost every shipline we've come across. Maybe it's because we know the value of variety, or maybe we've just got really bad taste. Who knows? As far as I know, this is the first attempt to document the craft that have flown under the revolution's flag; past, present, and future.

Some service records I've been able to locate have been frustratingly incomplete, so it's hard to say where some of these ships entered service with us, and even if they're still in use. Some only flew with us for a mission or two, and some are still crowding the hangars as I write this. Regardless; all have borne the eagle of the Bundschuh at some point.

The ships are incomplete, and some of them are in pieces, but they're still ours. Take care of them, and hopefully this'll help you keep them that way.

Good luck!

Database #001 - Series QX "Switchblade"
Type: Heavy Fighter
Model Number: 504316
Role: Space Superiority Fighter
National Origin: Borderworlds (Likely Maltese)
Manufacturer: Varies. Open-source design.
Status: In service, in production.
Hull Cost: 1.550.000SC
Based: Bruchsal Base (Frankfurt)
Variants: Dagger (Obsolete), Scimitar, Stiletto, Sabre, Falcata Mk1 (Obsolete), Cutlass

Manufacturer's Summary
An upscale version of the Scimitar, this ship is classified as a heavy fighter, and she is meant to take enterprising souls where the scimitar can't. With improved power core, heavier armor, better shields, and the capability of delivering far more firepower, this girl will help a brave pilot find fortune in the Borderworlds and Edge Worlds.

Sarah's Summary
We tend to keep the Switchblades on a pretty tight leash, and not entirely without reason. You know that bit about helping a brave pilot find fortune? Yeah, not so much. They're great for helping an inexperienced pilot find a plasma bolt, if you make the mistake of flying in a straight line. On the upside, the Switchblade has been the go-to ship for close-in patrols for a long time, and they don't come much more reliable, or easier to maintain then this. She's got a respectable degree of maneuverability, just don't expect to be dancing circles around Phantoms any time soon. With a lighter cannonade and less armor then a Sabre, at the trade off of slightly more maneuverability, you're better off keeping this one to the skirmishes, or as a holding force until the big(ger) guns arrive.

National Origin: Borderworlds (Likely Maltese)
Manufacturer: Varies. Open-source design.
Status: In service, in production.
Hull Cost: 1.873.380SC
Based: Eltmann Outpost (Munich)
Variants: Dagger (Obsolete), Scimitar, Stiletto, Switchblade, Falcata Mk1 (Obsolete), Cutlass

Manufacturer's Summary
As commerce and some economic freedoms began to flood the Border Worlds, so did greater access to technology and the need for change. The Sabre is the fruit of the Border Worlds' ingenuity and pure capitalism coalesced into one lethal embodiment. This ship boasts enormous power capacity as well as extreme defensive capability.

Sarah's Summary
All rise for the king. Alright, so maybe that was a bit dramatic, but the fact remains, the Sabre is a very good plane. The cost-saving cuts made to the old design's reactors have taken some of the bite out of this bird, but it was that or the air-conditioning. Despite the cuts, she's still more then capable of going toe-to-toe with anything smaller then a gunboat the military's likely to throw at you, and pretty easy to keep running to boot. Don't leave home without one.

Database #003 - CLI-11000 "Arrow"

Type: Light Fighter
Model Number: 501494
Role: Courier / Reconnaissance
National Origin: Liberty
Manufacturer: Rapier Shipyards
Status: In service.
Hull Cost: 1.814.000SC
Based: None.
Variants: None.

Manufacturer's Summary
Representative of a rare Interceptor class, the Arrow is a civilian ship built by a private Liberty ship-building company. Although expensive, this ship is irreplaceable in certain combat situations, being one of the most agile fighter crafts available to date. In small numbers, the Arrow was bought by many different Sirius factions, including the Bounty Hunters Guild, Zoners, IMG, GMG, Liberty Navy, and Bretonia Armed Forces.

Sarah's Summary
Oh boy. You don't see too many of these around. The Arrow's a very special sort of ship. Rapier's primarily an atmospheric company - the Arrow was their only expedition into spacecraft, and it shows. This thing's the most maneuverable ship in space, bar none, and can chase down anything you care to put it up against. It just... It's a bit like a dog chasing cars. With only two hardpoints on the things, when it finally catches something, there's not really much you can do about it except let it go and chase it again. That said, if avoiding interception is what you want, there's no better ship in Sirius. Though, if you want one you'll have to source it yourself, I don't know of any of our bases that have the parts.

Role: Interceptor
National Origin: Open Design
Manufacturer: Varies. Open source design.
Status: In service.
Hull Cost: 1.308.000SC
Based: None.
Variants: Hawk (Obsolete), Falcon, Eagle, Roc

Manufacturer's Summary
Based on the popular Hawk, the Griffin's similar external appearance hides a completely rebuilt interior, with a lighter frame supporting expanded nanobot storage banks and an expanded cargo bay. The wings have been completely restructured, with reinforced armor struts and extra power cell storage to support its superior maneuvering thrusters and enhanced weaponry over its predecessor.

Sarah's Summary
Not too much to say on this one. The CTE line's been the go-to for inner-house Freelancers for longer then I've been alive. Designed more for core escort duty then braving the harsh skies of the Edge Worlds, the Griffin doesn't have quite the same systems redundancies as the Scimitar, but it makes up for it with a few more comforts, and by being generally less noticeable in the civilized corners of Sirius. As a bonus, any Junker base is likely to have more spare parts then anyone is ever likely to need. Just don't ask where they got them.

Type: Light Fighter
Model Number: 505185
Role: Interceptor
National Origin: Unknown
Manufacturer: The Order. (Site Unknown.)
Status: Withdrawn.
Hull Cost: Unknown.
Based: None.
Variants: None known.

Manufacturer's Summary
As The Order attempted to spread its mission and influence across Sirius in the wake of the spreading menace of The Wilde, it became clear to its commanders and ship engineers that an agile scout craft was needed for reconnaisance and stealthy infiltration missions. The Onuris Light Fighter is capable of conducting surveillance in hostile territory with a low risk of detection to its pilot, but carries enough firepower and combat equipment to make it capable of either defending itself or providing support to heavier fighters in combat. The Onuris has proven to be an especially potent weapon against Nomad bombers, and can harass Nomad Morphs with good effect.

Sarah's Summary
Alright, I'm not even going to pretend with this one. I don't have the faintest idea how this thing works, or even if it was designed to be an interceptor. The only information I've got is what I've been able to drag off old maintenance records for a passing Order patrol, since it looks like our own records have either vanished or were never made in the first place. Really, we're lucky I managed to snag a manual summary at all, and it's only marginally better then nothing.

Sorry, you're on your own here, though if you can find one of these, I'd be more then happy to have a look.

Type: Light Fighter
Model Number: 500795

National Origin: Borderworlds (Likely Maltese)
Manufacturer: Varies. Open source design.
Status: In service, in production.
Hull Cost: 1.395.000SC
Based: Cloppenburg Base (Bremen)
Variants: Dagger (Obsolete), Stiletto, Switchblade, Sabre, Falcata Mk1 (Obsolete), Cutlass

Manufacturer's Summary
It may be classified as a light fighter, but there is nothing light about this ship. With its expanded power capacity and armor rating the Scimitar has all of the muscle required to survive in the harsh frontier of the Border Worlds and even Edge Worlds. An excellent choice for those craving adventure.

Sarah's Summary
You know how bees can only sting once before they die? Well, the Scimitar's kind-of like that. It's got more guns on it then any other interceptor we use, which is pretty neat. There's a catch though. Cramming all those weapons in hasn't really left much space for the reactor to power them, and your core'll be running close to dry after one volley. Thankfully that one volley can do some serious damage, and it recharges quickly. The Scimitar's more then agile enough to avoid most fire that'll be thrown back at it in the meantime if the pilot's awake, but if he's not, it'll be a soup of hull panels very quickly. Which wouldn't be ideal.

Role: Interceptor
National Origin: Rheinland
Manufacturer: Gottschalk Engineering.
Status: In service.
Hull Cost: 1.592.000SC
Based: None.
Variants: None.

Manufacturer's Summary
The Tiger Shark is a unique vessel with its foundations in the bygone days of Rheinland's commercial might, designed as it was to serve the desires of the young, the rich and the reckless as a sporty racing vehicle. Those Sharks seeing modern production are engaged in more militaristic ventures, from escorting Republic convoys to serving as enforcement vehicles for off duty members of the Rheinland Military or Police looking to bring in bounty money by hunting down pirates and dissidents. While considered expensive to some, the Tiger Shark is a solid workhorse vessel capable of delivering plenty of punch to folks wishing to ruin a good day.

Sarah's Summary
Well, the Tiger Shark gets points for uniqueness. Unfortunately, that's about all I can give it points for. It essentially boils down to a Scimitar with lighter armor and a bit more maneuverability, not that it's really going to make a great deal of difference at this point. If you can't catch it in a Scimitar, it's likely not worth catching, alright? That said, if you absolutely must have the most maneuverable ship you can, and can deal with being challenged to races every time you pass a trade lane, then the Tiger's definitely an option. Just don't expect me to source parts for you when all those cutting-edge systems get singed.

Database #008 - BWX-F1A "Bayonet"

Type: Heavy Fighter
Model Number: 504121
Role: Multirole Fighter
National Origin: Liberty (Border Worlds)
Manufacturer: Lane Hackers
Status: In service.
Hull Cost: 1.408.590SC
Based: None.
Variants: None.

Manufacturer's Summary
The Bayonet, as it has come to be known, was in development for almost two decades. Blending traditional Border Worlds ship technologies with state of the art systems designed in collaboration with Lane Hacker technicians, it brings an exquisite mixture of firepower, armor and speed to the battlefield.

The vessel's oversized heatsinks play host to a dizzying array of sensitive electronic surveying and splicing equipment, allowing it to maintain the role of a dedicated intelligence gatherer while its more combat orientated brethren dominate the battlefield.

Sarah's Summary
Don't buy one. No, really. Don't. I mean, sure it looks impressive enough, with those six guns and maneuverability that'd make some light fighters blush, and the slim profile, and...

Oh, fine, it's not that bad. Nevermind what the Hackers said about this being a support ship, it's more then capable of holding its own in combat, in the hands of a capable pilot. Falling respectably in the middle range of heavy fighter firepower and hull strength, the Bayonet's real strength lies both it's ability to simultaneously dodge hostile fire in a joust and look like something out of a sci-fi flick. It's power core isn't anything special, but it's perfectly capable of fueling anything you could fit on it. It is; however, a pain to maintain. All that cutting-edge maneuverability comes at a price, so don't buy this one unless you're willing to put in the hours in the workshop, because I certainly won't be. Rumor has it that the scientists aboard Heisenberg keep a few on station, and might be convinced to part with them, if you've got a credit chit to hand.

Manufacturer's Summary
As the name attests, this ship is formidable and is well-deserving of the reputation that it enjoys. With a balanced combination of refined offensive and defensive technologies, the Falcon delivers an astonishing amount of potential firepower to potential adversaries quickly and efficiently.

Sarah's Summary
Residing firmly on the lighter end of the Heavy Fighter spectrum, the Falcon really shines in larger engagements, where its superior maneuverability allows it to weasel its way behind slower ships, and evade that same firepower on the way out. As a bonus, as with all the CTE-Line, the parts are largely interchangeable with the more common Eagle.
