To Deep Space Engineering:

Greetings. I am Vice Admiral Nathaniel Davies of the First Fleet, Liberty Navy. I come to you today with a proposal crucial to the war effort against the Gauls and Rheinland, as well as the pirate forces that plague the trade lanes.

In short, we are in dire need of a revamp to our cruiser fleet. The "Archer" class Siege Cruiser - a venerable vessel you are no doubt aware of - has fallen into a state of technological inferiority that does not parallel our other craft. To sum it up nicely, the "Archer" is no longer the strong, agile vessel it used to be, and is in dire need of some upgrades. Primarily, the Admiralty wishes two upgrades to be made to the vessel:

  • A significant upgrade to the energy output and storage capacity of the Li-ME-52 "Starburst" Fusion Reactor
  • A sizable increase in power and damage potential to the LSGM-1d "Star Lance" Heavy Particle Accelerator Cannon

While I confess I am not a technical expert in this field, the general concept is to increase the power output of the "Archer" class, and then utilizing that increase to construct a larger and more powerful version of the LSGM-1d HPAC.

To achieve that end, I wish to bring forth the following project to Deep Space Engineering:

Your role in this project (should you choose to accept it) is to produce the upgraded power core and particle accelerator along with Ageira Technologies, and then construct the prototype test-bed for the two upgrades with Ageira. Should it prove necessary, modifications to the hull, including the stripping of auxiliary armor plating, might prove necessary.

If this project interests you and you wish to accept it, please contact myself or the Admiralty on this encrypted frequency. You will, of course, be handsomely rewarded as per standard Request-for-Proposal protocol.

Sincerely,
Vice Admiral Nathaniel Davies

Vice Admiral Davies,

Thank you for contacting Deep Space Engineering. May I say what a pleasure it is to hear directly from such a distinguished member of the Primary Fleet. We would be honored to undertake such a vital project alongside Ageira.

Because our focus is primarily in technology for civilian applications, upgrades to the siege cruiser's reactors are certainly feasible. On the other hand, improvements to any weapon systems will require more extensive examination and rigorous testing by our combined engineering and R&D divisions - possibly even the sourcing of outside specialists.

We will, of course, require access to the relevant blueprints and specs, as well as some time for our crews to thoroughly inspect a vessel. Considering the age of the equipment, you should expect reasonable gains simply by bringing key systems up to date. However, you are correct in your assessment that certain elements - such as hull plating - may need to be reduced in order to accommodate the upgrades if the cruiser is to maintain its overall profile and maneuverability.

With your permission, our staff are prepared to begin immediately.

Regards,

To Deep Space Engineering:

Greetings, Mr. McGillin. It's good to hear you'll be coming aboard the project - distinguished hands such as those of DSE are never a bad thing.

As for your concerns about the particle accelerator, Ageira has placed Mr. Daniel Brock of the Ageira R&D department in charge of the research and experimentation with the reactor and particle accelerator. I would suggest you get in contact with him and his team concerning those articles in specific. While I am not intimately familiar with the inner workings of your companies, I would only assume that Ageira would produce the experimental blueprints and test module, and that DSE would refine that module and produce a working copy to be installed on an experimental vessel - of course, that is all up to you. All we're looking for is results.

As for the blueprints and specifications, I will have a full engineering team aboard the LNS Integrity with a complete set of non-classified blueprints and technical specifications visit Doe Industries Space Port by tomorrow, if that suits your needs. The Integrity is actually a modified Catapult-class, an even older model than the Archer-class we have currently, but it is in essence the same vessel, and should suit your needs.

If you have no further questions, sir, I'll have the crew move out within the hour to your spaceport. And if you need anything else - just give a shout.

Sincerely,
Nathaniel Davies
