Tekkan Okura was interested in politics. He even considered becoming a politician at one point but he never followed that path. Trading seemed easier back then.

Today, he went to the elections office that was set up on Planet Tomioka's spaceport. He was about to check his crew that was waiting for their ship to be filled on Shiojiri anyway. A small detour shouldn't be a major problem. Maybe even get some traditional sake... his supplies were running dry.

Arriving at the office, the staff members asks where he has his residence and points him to an enclosed space, saying:

- Sir, you will find a computer there. Simply insert your ID card and follow the instructions on the screen.
- That's it? All digitalised and such? he replied.
- Hai.

The vote was supposed to be secret. He never trusted machines to be safe. Then, he spotted the Kishiro logo on the side of the screen and a very bretonian exclamation came out. He probably heard it at one of Samura's new business partners from the Kingdom.

- Bloody hell! and coming out of the vote room he continued. Can someone explain how exactly am I supposed to trust that the information I'm giving won't be altered?! Kishiro is involved in the voting process?
- What? Sir, please calm down. What's the problem?
- The problem is that this voting machine was made by Kishiro! Look! he said while pointing at the monitor.
- Oh, no, sir. The equipment is different from a electoral office to another. There were public auctions for these contracts. Different companies got involved. I can assure you that the program and operating system is secure and got the approval of the Republic's representatives.
- I refuse to work on machines made by those... thieves, said Tekkan and went out of the office.

After a few seconds he went back in because he realized he forgot his ID card inside. Then he took a ground vehicle because flying ones were rare on Tomioka and he was in a hurry already. He went to a different elections office, entered and asked:

- Who's the equipment provider?
- I'm sorry?
- The voting machine... who made it?
- I... I... it was a small company... erm... Mojiwaki... or something like that.
- Details, give me details.
- Sir... sure. Wait a moment, please. Ah, here it is, the contract was won by a company named Moriwaki Engineering.
- Never heard of them. Alright, fine! Let me vote. I'm from Rishiri, Misaki Station.
- There you go, sir.

Inside the voting room, Tekkan was reading through his options.

- Bah... The Reformists have good ideas and goals. The communists would be something new and they also have some good ideas but... oh, hell no! Nationalization could be an option for them so no... N-KA, are these guys kidding me? Do they even know how politics work? Look at all those goals... they need ten lifetimes to accomplish all of them, not to mention that some of them are directly countering other goals set by the same party. Amateurs! Very well, there's only one real option left...

He touches the screen, voting for the Kusari Reformation Party √.
In New Tokyo, in the central district, very close to the location where the buildings of the Grand Assembly stood, there was one of the numerous offices set up to handle the voting procedures of the election. At the entrance, there was an unusual number of reporters and camera crews, waiting for something of importance to occur. In a few moments, the reporters began buzzing amongst themselves, as their target was rumored to be arriving in a few moments.

Indeed, from one of the nearby intersections, a large group of people was approaching, most of them dressed formally and with a sense of professionalism.

In the middle of this group, one man stood out amongst the others, either by being the focus of the cameras, either by the amount of people in the street who approached him to greet and express words of support.

As he approached the entrance of the voting office, Arata Nakaigawa supporters were replaced by the crowds of journalists, who were organizing amongst themselves to get the greatest amount of questions. Nakaigawa, House Representative of the Democratic Party of Kusari, smiled to the group that waited to interview him, but asked in a calm and assertive manner for the press conference to be held after he casted his vote
His staff opened a path into the building, and Nakaigawa presented himself to the reception, and was directed to the voting terminals.

Carefully observing the most recent edition of the voting interface, and pleased to confirm what he had heard about it, he casted his vote for the Democratic Party of Kusari without hesitation.

Returning to the entrance of the building, and after some some space was liberated so that the passage of others voters wouldn't be hampered, he signaled his willingness to answer some questions.

Journalist: "Representative Nakaigawa-san, what are the goals for this election? Does the DPK aims to retake the majority of the Parliament?"

Nakaigawa: "Good morning to everyone. Let me just say that our supporters have made an admirable effort in the campaigning at the local and regional level, and it will be thanks to them that we hope to once again achieve a position of great importance on the affairs of the Grand Assembly and Kusari as a whole. It is too early to draw conclusions on winners and losers, but the DPK will stand by its values, and return the favor on the trust placed on us by the citizens of the great Kusari."

Journalist: "In this campaign, there has been a very noticeable drop in political campaigning on the neural networks by all parties, and a greater focus on directed campaigning in important regions and offworld bases. Why has this return to older methods of promoting occurred, and how does the DPK aims to compete with the more widespread KRP grassroots support?"

Nakaigawa: "Indeed, our neural net campaigning has taken a hit, mainly due to the delay on the scheduling of the elections, as well as the new elections laws, which brought new regulations and restrictions to the campaign process. We sought to compensate that by a more on hands approach with our citizens, to show that the DPK has people that care for them, and are willing to listen to their needs."

Journalist: "Nakaigawa-san, is it true that the DPK has been receiving less support from the Kishiro keiretsu since it lost the majority in the Spring elections against the Kusari Reformist Party, and how did that affected the relation with the other parties in the Parliament?"

Nakaigawa: "For a long time our opponents have been spreading the rumors that we have attained the government position just by the will of Kishiro and the leadership of the Navy revolutionaries. While it's true that Kishiro has for a long period of time been one of our strongest donator, it was not the only one, and the Naval factions also expressed their support through other political movements, which sadly have fallen out of favor as well.
The Democratic Party of Kusari recognizes the efforts made by Kishiro and the Naval forces in empowering the Kusari citizens with their voice in the process of government, and bringing the virtues of Democracy, of the rule of the people, to our great nation. We must state however, that the DPK will continue to pursue the virtuous goal of greater social equality and democratic values by it's own will, and will not be affected by the whims of the keiretsu, or other major players in society but the people themselves.

My apologies gentlemen, but that is all the time I have for questions today. I bid you a good day."

Arata Nakaigawa heads back to the vehicles, while the journalists still launch questions from afar regarding various subjects.

(// other votes to be cast in another post)
My name is Nubus Yashida, i'm in the Yashida Holding and i will tell you something about what happen during the time i had to vote.

The times of elections were there! I was very exited becouse it would be the first time i would go voting.

I went with all the others inside the election office and i could not even see where the machines were located. And if it was finally our turn after waiting 3.5 hours the power broke down and all the machines were ofline. As they arrived with paper voting bills 1.5 hours later we were able to vote.

My decision was fast made. The nationalist seemed having the best goals fitting in my future plans with the holding. So i decided to vote for the N-KA

As my whole family went to that election office in the edge of town in could not go with them because there were some "issuse" at the commerce office in New Tokyo.
I had to fix an issue regarding a trade agreement with the Kingdom of Bretonia. My pilots flew me to my personal office at planet kyushu where i am as well the leader of the Yashida farms on this wonderfull planet. When arrived there was allot of press. One of those asked wether or not i went voting. As i said not at the moment. I've still got a corporation to runn! As i headed further i saw several pubs. All those parties: Communists, socialists, Imperialists, shoot-all and Nationalists. I did not know who to choose.
I kept working late and read in the meantime the primairy goals of all the parties. The Nationalists seemed the most interesting.

As I said that i went the day after to the election office and voted for the N-KA nationalists!!

Konnichiwa my name is Tracy Verburg I'm the leader of the Research dev in the Holding.

The whole family headed toward an office specially set up for the elections. It was somewhere at the City edge. But something terrably happened. The power fell down! All the voting computers were not able to function anymore and so the leaders of the local voting office decided to use the old way of voting. The White papers where all the participating parties were listed were brought to the office. With a delay of 3h the familie was finally able to vote.

However is still did not know who to vote for i read the information on all the political parties on the wall and took a decision. Well actually i didn't. i took a walk with my daughter Yuriko Yashida.

i still knew from the time i move to Kusari that this is a wonderfull house. You must know i'm from Libertonian origin and really converted me to the Kusarian way of life. i'd never like to get back to that scum house! As i'm a nationalist i'll vote for N-KA
Yoshi Ishigaki was sitting in his office on New Tokyo, his computer currently logged onto the Neural-Net Site set up for the Kusari Election, his graying hair glistened in the evening light as he effortlessly manuvered through the site to get to the Polling Section where he may cast his vote for the future.

Brown eyes danced across the page as he scrolled down to the choices portion of the site and logged in his choice. He voted naturally for his own party, the People's Party of Kusari. While he doubted that they would win the election at the very least the voice of the working-class would be heard in the new government.

As he leaned back in his chair and thought deeply upon the possible future he let out a small sigh at how stressful these elections could be...He was quite thankful he hadn't developed ulcers...

The sun was now ducking behind the towering spires of New Tokyo's bustling cities, his work now completed he exited the site and put his computer back into sleep mode. The man tiredly got up and headed towards the office exit, making sure to grab his gray hat on the way out and pulling on his coat...It was a long way back home even with the public transit...
Meanwhile, a shuttle departs from the Battleship Myoko and lands in the nearby Otaru Border Station. From within, a large group of Naval Forces pilots on leave head to the various sections of the station, while a group of officers sticks together as they walk to voting office, one of the two set up in the Hokkaido system.

Amongst them is Katsuo Shimoe, one of the squadron leaders of the Matsumoto tactical squadrons. The time off from the desk work would do him nice, but first he and his colleagues wanted to get the election process concluded, before their time off.

At the voting office, he presented his credentials, and was led to the voting terminal by the staff.
His convictions of the justice of the new Republican ideals still held strong in his heart, and noticing the changes in the political scenery, he still casted his vote to the Democratic Party of Kusari.

When they all completed their votes, they headed out to the mess hall of the station, to eat something before the shuttle back to New Tokyo arrived.

Elsewhere, in the Shikoku system, a new dawn was rising over the Tokushima Archipelago, on Planet Junyo.

In the city of Higashi-Tosa, there was a constant flow of people coming and going of the city hall where the election was being held. The arrival of a row of 4 vehicles brought some change to that however.

Soon, man in suites and with a stoic attitude began handling the passage into the building, and from one of the cars came out an old man in some traditional clothes, observing the area surrounding the venue.

One of his men approaches him, and addresses The Fisherman in an annoyed tone:

"Senchou, the place is ready. Like you said, there weren't any of the guys of the Inkyo-gumi here... We didn't really need to bring all of us here."

"Iie Hiraku-kun, they gave me their word, but in Junyo we must have our say enforced. Having us here shows who is in control of the runnings of the Archipelago, and these city lads wont think of straying out of the line, or else I wont be kind to them."

"We could have just sent half of our escort here, and stayed at the village office."

"I told you to stop being a mamma's boy... You will have your lunch back home in due time."

The Fisherman headed to the voting office, while observing the workings of the employees of the Hall. As he arrived, the staff recognized him and gave a bow to his presence. He recognized one of the staff as one of his own men, who gave The Fisherman a subtle nod.

-Good, seems we kept the systems clean from outside meddling. - he thought, as he presented his credentials to the staff. - Other syndicates elsewhere might wish to influence the voting to his clients, but our Seven Fortunes will not admit any deviation from the people's will. Our will, in a sense. - he chuckled a little.

"Hiraku, hurry up and get your card out. I want this done quickly."

"Eh, senchou, you know I don't care for them wise guys at the government."

"Hiraku-kun~... don't make me repeat myself."

Visibly irritated - "Hai hai, my captain..." - he said resigned, and turned to the staff.

"Hiraku Shimoe, I'm here to vote." He said in an annoyed tone.

The Fisherman reached to the terminal, and checked the list of participating parties. He knew which one he would vote, but for a long time kept staring at this pinkish line in the list, this weird and short name that made him remind of something... something he could not recall, as much as he tried.

"...ho, oy... cho?...., Oy, Boss?" he could hear Hiraku's voice when he was touched in the shoulder.

"Ah.., eh? What is it?"

"You seemed to be in a daze for a few minutes, staring at the screen. Daijobu ka?"

"Ah, it's nothing." The Fisherman said, looking back at the screen.

Somehow, the SUPERIOR AMEPARTY!!! was selected and awaiting confirmation.
With a small sense of dread, he changed the selection to the Kusari Reformation Party, and confirmed his vote.

" 'abune~ya, that was dangerous."

On the other terminal, Hiraku Shimoe had just finished his casting of the vote. Choosing from the few ones, he threw it to the People's Party of Kusari due to it's sounding name, without much consideration to the party manifestos and pledges.

With their errand done, they left the city hall with the escort, to go check other voting offices in the city.
