Unauthorised sociopolitical statements about the policies or activity of SFMC are unwelcome. Please only use this channel to request information about, or express interest in, membership of the committee.

Dear Sirius,

Please find below copies of previous transmissions to the general independent tradesmen and women of Sirius.

The frequency transmitted upon was hijacked by Rheinland sympathisers opposed to our cause, thus making it impractical and dangerous for recruitment purposes, as a result I apologise for the repeat transmission.

In regards to the policies related below, please note that although it is 'expected' that committee members are hostile to Rheinland under the current circumstances, this is not compulsory, just as none of our directives will be until they have been ratified by a majority vote of a five-person committee.

Do note, however, that unless you reach a specific agreement with Rheinland authorities your ship may be fired upon if tagged as a Sirius Free Mercantile Committee Ship (SFMCS).

Another point open for future debate is SFMC ship designations (currently formatted as "SFMCS.<Shipname>"). The general aims and policies of the committee are also obviously open for debate, however I will fight any attempt to seriously deviate from our primary directives during meetings of the committee.

Quote:This is freelancer Captain Fabius of the SFMCS.Starswine.

Recent events have brought to light the fragile nature of our right to trade freely and without hindrance across the Sirius sector. Rheinland's unjustified war against the Republic of Liberty has resulted in closure of lucrative trade routes, relied upon by independent traders to feed their families and pay their crews.

As a direct response to the ongoing situation I have decided to form a committee to represent legitimate traders across Sirius. The function of this committee is not to try and bring freelancers into any sort of hierarchical association (space knows i don't want to take orders from any "boss"), but to give a voice to the disparate group of traders and mercenaries who are usually ignored when the big houses make their policies.

The committee will have no command structure in a real sense, but will be overseen by a Chairman, a Deputy Chairman and an Executive Officer. The role of these officers is to administrate and organize meetings, and communicate policy changes, as decided by majority vote of the committee.

The permanent function of the committee is:

- To represent the interests of independent traders and service providers across the Sirius Sector
- To expand and perpetuate free trade across the Sirius Sector
- To assist legal enforcement of trade-related laws, including enforcement of smuggling and piracy legislature

Details of current policy will follow in later transmissions.

As of this moment I am calling upon all freelancers who seek to uphold these ideals to join the committee and help give a voice to yourself and the other independent tradesmen and women who risk their lives on the trade lanes every day just to scratch out a living!

Captains interested in sitting on the committee should contact "SiriusFreeMercantileCommittee" via the neural net, or speak to the captain of an SFMCS designated ship.

Starswine out.

Quote:Hi Sirius, Fabius of the SFMCS.Starswine here again.

Further to my previous transmission, i would like to announce the initial stance of the Sirius Free Mercantile Committee towards other organisations that we may come into contact with.

Our current situation is as follows:

- Liberty-Rheinland war is massively damaging to free trade within Sirius
- Rheinland is the unprovoked aggressor in the war
- Piracy is rampant in parts of House space and the outer systems

The committee's current activities in response to the situation:

- Assist in bringing the Liberty-Rheinland war to a swift conclusion
- Decrease levels of piracy and illegal trade within House space

This means that committee members should be on at least neutral terms with all major house security forces and corporations, and should be hostile to pirates found attacking trade lanes.

The exception to this is Rheinland, as the aggressors in the war with Liberty and sponsors of monopolies, the committee has deemed the current Rheinland administration to be unfit to govern. The basic upshot of this is that assistance should be provided to Liberty forces in the form of intelligence, logistics and combat support against Rheinland invaders.

Rheinland and her corporations should be viewed as hostile for the duration of the war (unless the committee votes to change this stance); trade within Rheinland should only be conducted with revolutionary groups opposed to the current regime and neutral parties (e.g. Orbital Spa & Cruise/the Junkers).

Operations against Rheinland have already commenced, and i am proud to say we have had enough of an impact to be mentioned in Rheinland security memorandums...

Fly safe out there freelancers,

Fabius out.

Please respond on this channel if you have questions about, or are interested in membership of the SFMC.

Yours sincerely,

Cpt. Fabius, SFMCS.Starswine

Broadcaster ID: D-259, Serenity-class transport "Blistering Sky", cpt. Alexander Duval;

Good day to y'all lads,
Last few days have proven to me that Liberty space ain't exactly safest place in Galaxy. We had occasion to speak to each other
few times, but I doubt ya'll remember 'em. I'm easy to miss, which also proven my usefulness and ability to take care of myself.
Sadly, it's long time since I was able to 'just call few favours' to safely pass through every House system.

And here I am.
I don't like this kinda stuff, prefering talk. Ya could call me old timer.
If ya're interested, feel free to contact me with contract ready to sign.

cpt. A. Duval

Dear Captain Duval,

I can assure you that i do indeed remember our conversations, and am most pleased you have decided to join the Sirius Free Mercantile Committee.

Currently the only requirements for membership of the committee are that you abide by Liberty law at all times whilst within Liberty space (including independent systems administered by Liberty). And that you believe in the importance of free-trade. If you can agree to these conditions then you are more than welcome to sit at our table.

I will shortly send you a personal message with password details to have your ship tagged as a Sirius Free Mercantile Committee Ship (SFMCS), however I would once again like to make it clear that Rheinland may regard your ship as hostile if your craft bears this designation.

Upon joining the Committee you will remain a freelance captain and will receive no orders or restrictions upon your activities. When our membership reaches a total of five free captains we will vote in a "leadership" for administrative duties, but all captains will have an equal say in the policies of the committee.

Again, thank you for your interest, and i look forward to working with you for a safer, more profitable Sirius.

Kind regards,

Cpt. F. Libertus, SFMCS.Starswine

Dear sir/ma'am:
I am a freelance pilot who was told by a SFCMS pilot about this organization. I would like to throw in my bid to join the committee. I was informed that you may be applying for bounty hunter status for all your pilots and am extremely intrigued. I am an experienced escort and hunter. I have taken out many a pirate for Liberty lawful transports and police. I am awaiting your response.

Dear Holoarc,

Thank you for your interest in joining the committee.

Firstly, in regards to blanket bounty hunter status for our members, I believe that having a couple of good pilots working on an individual basis at first will help with our application, and you sound like the man to help us get on our way. Of course, if you would rather wait until we manage to obtain this status I completely understand.

Our first pilot, Gaff Ryder of the SFMC|Scylla, will be making his application in the coming hours.

In regards to the above, I would recommend making an individual application in the meantime.

If you are still interested in joining the committee, you should find a message in your Neural Net message box with details of our ship designation encryption code. (Please note that we have recently changed our designation to SFMC, if you wish to fly under the SFMCS designation that is perfectly acceptable)

I am sure you have familiarised yourself with our objectives and ideals, and look forward to working with you in the near future.

If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Cpt F. Libertus, SFMCS.Starswine.

*Initializing encryption protocols.*

Dear sir,
My name is Cross Arashi, a freelancer flying the ship Moria, who recently came in contact with one of the members of your committee. After giving it some thoughts, I’ve decided to try to apply for membership myself. While I used to be a trader for a while, lot’s of events made me leave that path. Now I fly a fighter, but I hope I shall make myself useful despite of that.

Originally I planned to send a video transmission, but due certain unforeseen circumstances, that option wasn’t available. Thus I send you this letter.
Hope to hear your reply soon,
Cross Arashi.

Dear Captain Arashi,

Thank you for your letter. My pilot, Gaff of the SFMC|Scylla, informed me of his meeting with you, and the investigation of explosions at Tinker's Haven.

Whether you are a trader or a bounty hunter, we welcome any freelance pilots into our association and I am pleased you have decided to join us.

You will receive the encryption code to set your ship designation as "SFMC" in your private neural net message box in the next few minutes.

I think we should be getting to the point where we can start voting for leadership and policies, I will be posting a communication about this on the SFMC Boardroom channel in the near future.

Again, thank you for your application, and welcome to the Committee.

Best wishes,

Fabius Libertus, SFMC|Starswine
Acting Chairman of the Sirius Free Mercantile Committee
