Four generations ago, Walter Lane, Kaden's great-great-grandfather, walked down the gangplank of HMS Guernsey, a Bretonian passenger ship coming from Cambridge to Denver. Another poor immigrant coming to the land of prosperity to find fortune. He didn't and spent the rest of his life working as a stevedore for the Universal Shipping. It wasn't until Kaden's grandfather, Andrew, when the Lane family fortune started. Andrew Lane was a textbook representation of a lower-class rise. He earned enough money for a trade ship and became an independent contractor for the Libertonian companies, supplying them anything they would need from other Houses, blockade running and sometimes even smuggling. While not entirely white, it placed a foundation for the next Lanes to prosper.

Kaden's father, James Lane, broke with the family tradition and went into business. Quoting his exact words, "you can steal more with a handshake these days than with a gun, and all of it legitimately", he started his career on Liberty stock market and soon, with careful speculation, he multiplied the Lane family fortune. He then married Anne Lane and soon two of his sons were born - Jack and Kade.

Jack, the older one, followed his father footsteps. When he started studying at Manhattan University, the entire Lane family moved to the Needles in Varience City - a small, idyllic community of rich and famous. The older Lane brother finished his degree in economics in 818 A.S. and after James Lane retired, he continued his father's career.

Kade was the complete opposite. He never cared for education or wealth, instead he preferred partying every day with his college friends. Kade's father never really cared for him, waiting to get him married to some influential CEO's daughter and expecting him not to oppose. He did, with his adventurer spirit never giving up to his father's expectations. Kade soon started noticing the problems of Liberty, the rising crime, smuggling, human trafficking and bribery, that would come to them eventually, and everyone should do everything to stop that. He shared his concerns and was pleased to see that there were many in his circle to go along with him. That's how Blue Blaze was formed.

His life might be ways away from the first Lane's, but there's a lot of fighter spirit in him, making him a great leader of the Blaze, inspiring and heating the others to battle against the bad guys.

In the late December, 821 A.S. the Blaze got caught at West Point. Bunch of Xenos, not much talking, they just started shooting. Seven on three, bad odds of winning for the Needles' kids, when a polished Sunrider exited the lane from California gate. The Blaze thought that's just some rich aristocrat coming from Bretonia, not caring much to help them and just run to the safety of Manhattan, so they stopped paying much attention. The Sunrider, however, started shooting the Xenos, with a distinctive rythm beaten out with its purple guns.

Two minutes later, the fight was over, Blue Blaze had a new heroine and Seraph had reinvented herself again.

Justin Ranes was an entrepreneur in Liberty, in 783 A.S. starting his small company Cyclone Firearms, producing firearms and non-lethal self defence weapons. One in particular, the Gabriel hand taser released in 792 A.S., was a major breakthrough, making Cyclone one of the most recognisable firearm businesses in Liberty. Soon after, Cyclone moved their main headquarters to Detroit Munitions and started working under Ageira Technologies' banner.

In 795 A.S. Justin married Hope Bell-Ranes, a Bretonian noble, and in 796 A.S. their first and only child was born - Catherine. When she was three, Justin passed away due to natural causes. Hope inherited the Cyclone and instead of continuing the successful business of her husband, she most of the shares to Ageira, leaving just enough to pay her and Catherine's living expenses. Soon after, they moved to Bretonia.

When Catherine was seventeen, she graduated high school on Planet Cambridge and moved back to Varience City on Manhattan, to one of her father's old houses. There she started studying computer science at Varience City college, where were many of the kids who'd later form Blaze. While in college she bought her first ship, a Sunrider civilian fighter and started taking pilot classes. For a long time she thought she'd spend her life working for Ageira, but that path of career after a while ceased to be appealing. She enjoyed flying and shooting in her ship, and she was good at it, too. She isolated more and more from her friends, occasionally flying around Liberty and shooting rookie pirates disrupting the lanes.

After she graduated college, she started working as a bounty hunter, taking more and more serious jobs around Bretonia and Liberty. A few times she was offered jobs as security for various companies' transports, including Ageira and Bowex. She turned them down each time, thinking that it would hinder her freedom she had as a bounty hunter.

After a couple of years the college reunion time came along and she met two people she'd been friends with during her school times. Seth Archer, now a captain of Liberty Navy Battlecruiser Kosciusko and Tori Kago, musician and freelancer. Each of them in some way experienced the problems Liberty has, and the fact that it's crime problems are almost always swept under the rug. Most of the job of LPI is done by Bounty Hunters, while the so called policemen just sit around, counting bribe money. That gave the first spark to forming Vigilantes.

Vigilantes prospered for a while, until the LPI started noticing they're doing a lot more than the rightful Police and started issuing repercussions. There weren't many options for them to work anymore, as any attention from the Police would shed light on a renegade Navy battleship Victory Rush, that assisted Vigilantes and served as their mobile base.

After Vigilantes had disbanded, Seraph went back to Bretonia just to discover her mother passed away and now she inherited her wealth. It was much more than she had expected, but still she still grieved over her death. She stayed in Bretonia for half a year and after that returned to Liberty, in her Sunrider with purple guns.

Behind her cute face and natural beauty hides an analytical mastermind. While Kade may be the main leader of the Blue Blaze, Seraph is the brain behind its operations, making sure everything doesn't fall apart overnight. She is that one lonely, introvert kid, who never talks much and sits aside on keggers.
