(Totally not a warmup for an unofficial factionette or anything)

In every war there's tales of heroes and their unlikely victories.
However the men and women of the 30th destroyer squadron are not heroes, nor did they pull of any unlikely victories.

As you're probably aware, each military has "that one squadron" which for some reason is the butt of every joke in it. The 30th destroyer division was this for the Kusari Naval Forces before it split into two.
However the reason for this was not the squadron's battle performance, in particular because the squadron had no battle performance. This was because the 30th Divison was the dumping place for all the undesirables that somehow managed to squeeze past the Naval Academies of Kusari: Women, members of families of known GC or Blood Dragon pilots, former prisoners, incompetent pilots, you name it. Needless to say, being assigned to this squadron usually meant a lifetime posting inside it, unless the Emperor himself intervened, something he didn't do.

And on the beginning of the Tau war, the 30th Divison was deployed with most of the fleet, however they weren't sent on the battlefield, in fact, during the entire war this squadron never even saw a Bretonian vessel, immediately upon the start of hostilities the 30th Division's four outdated destroyers and their escort group were deployed to convoy duty.
And that's it for the Tau war, the Destroyers spent their days escorting Samura convoys and KNF supply groups, doing this the 30th Division saw the start of the Gallic invasion. As the group was scattered in between various convoys as Gallia attacked, two of the Destroyers, Yayoi and Kisaragi were trapped with the Imperial fleet, while the other two, Mochizuki and Mutsuki remained in the would-be Republic of Kusari.

As the Kusarian fleet retreated in front Gallia, so did the 30th division, tasked with covering whatever transport ships made it through before the forces were split. Since then the squadron was rebased to the Battleship Yamaguchi, assisting Bretonian forces in their defense. And as the Yamaguchi moved to Roussilon, they remained in Bretonia to keep assisting as a sign of "goodwill" between the Bretonians and the Exile forces.
However it is obvious that the Exile high command wanted to move the division out of the way before the attempt to recapture Kusari, of course, they also needed to keep face with Bretonia. The 30th division did not mind as they found the treatment they receive by their allies far better then that of their own Fleet.

At the same time, the two other Destroyers of the division have been re-instituted into the KNF, and are enjoying the freedoms it offers and finally equal treatment. However there still is a sense of guilt for leaving their comrades in Bretonia to fight.

And now in the onset of the civil war, the High Command is having doubts, two destroyers are valuable assets, even if horribly outdated, should the 30th division be recalled to Tau-29?
