We have identified an "old earth" threat that appears to be a form of mental disturbance similar to what was once known as the "Jerusalem" or "Paris" syndromes. Junker psychologists and threat analysts have classified it as "Crazy Ivan Syndrome" or simply refer to such an individual as a "Crazy Ivan".
Pilots in Sirius--particularly those becoming independent captains for the first time--and who become aware of old earth Coalition history--can sometimes become enamored of it to the point where they identify euphorically as "members of the Coalition". Such person are convinced that they are actual citizens of the old earth nations on the Coalition side and believe they are in Sirius to continue the struggle with the Alliance that fought it--which in their minds is "all others".
These individuals are aggressive and flaunt known provisions of legal conflict in Sirius buying wild arrays of ships and weaponry and often mixing them indiscriminately. They gravitate towards initiating combat or piracy on other vessels with no regard for rules of combat, their faction allegiances or status or their IDs.
Crazy Ivans have in common that they have immersed themselves in old earth tongues and culture of specific Coalition nation-states. Some believe they are true "Russians" or "Romanians" or ""Czechoslovakians", etc., etc. They are wary of exposing their delusion to others and seek to hide their affliction -- refusing to respond to hails or queries or diplomatic requests--even as they attack. Sometimes they use a few simple phrases but often disregard coms or comment only, "You are hostile", "I kill you enemy", etc., etc.
When their behavior is confronted by other houses or factions in Sirius--particularly those with some power at their disposal--they often are hostile or see it as personal persecution. Many respond badly to this and go on killing sprees, pour abusive language over system coms or even try to sabotage entire systems and render them non-functioning through massive sabotage attempts on their entire infrastructure and controlling subsystems. They do this by as yet undetermined means but seem to use tactics seen amongst some Lane Hackers. Our intelligence indicates that the mysterious and fearfully powerful "Admin" faction posses the same sort of tech on an even greater scale and often uses it to imprison or even destroy these individuals completely.
Crazy Ivans may reveal their obsession if their delusional language affiliation can be determined--most use and old earth Slavic tongue as their imagined "native speech" and a few queries in such a language will often cause them to reveal a little about themselves and their operation--though they are incredibly wary and cagey in such discussions.
Crazy Ivans also have been seen networking with one another in an attempt to maintain power in Sirius and usually trust no one other than their like-minded close associates.
Be advised Sirius--Junker experts have established these individuals are a danger to themselves and others and the only possibility of rehabilitation with them is if one is able to get them to communicate in Sirius standard speech rather than the language affectation they have chosen. Most are so deeply immersed in their psychosis that they are unable to do so. Many share the old earth tongue "Russian" and one may try it if one wishes to attempt rehabilitation of such individuals.

It has not been determined that SCRA propaganda is a contributing factor in Crazy Ivan psychosis. The development of the condition seems to stem from an individual's internal thinking process and not outside direct manipulation.
