-About Us-

Mithranian Research Institute was formed by a small group of independent scientists who shared a vision to find a way to reverse the effects of Nomad Incubus on The Wild. But that kind of research needed some tough decisions and of course some experiments that deemed to be "inhumane" and that made them cross the line several times, earning the hate of Libertonians. The Institutes main Installation was situated in Omega-9 system before it was destroyed by Red Hessian Army and were forced back to Omega-49, however they are slowly rebuilding and hopefully find some allies in their endeavors.

Long time ago, before the nomad invasion, Mithranians were working with the Zoners, in thus earning their respect, looking for new holes through Sirius and finding new horizons. As investigators, they used to study the anomalies of the black holes, the furthest Quasars and the Neutron Stars, as many as they could. Many of them risked their lives for the investigations, and many of them never returned.
In around 780 A.S the Mithranians were conducting Research in Omega-41 on the Neutron Star, but with the high radiation that it emitted, resulted many deaths on-board various Research Vessels, about 2 years after the research there was abandoned and deemed to be far more dangerous as first anticipated, because it took over a thousand lives in that brief time.
After that Mithranians turned to other fields to seek wisdom and turned to Liberty sectors, New York to be precise as there was the enigmatic Zone 21 and The Badlands. Mithranians sent Research Vessels there, in hopes of finding what is Zone 21 exactly and what The Badlands hide in herself. Short after their arrival there the Research Vessel "Orilliah" was lost in Zone 21, why? is still unanswered for, but Research Vessel "Artuhan" managed to gather some minor data before being chased away by the Liberty Rouges operating out of Buffalo Base there. While "Artuhan" made her way back to Omega-9, a scrambled distress signal was logged in Cambridge system, near the system sun, upon investigation it revealed that the distress signal belonged to "Orilliah" but the ship was in pieces and in decaying orbit around the sun, dangerously close to corona sphere of the sun but the crew of "Artuhan" managed to salvage the ships blackbox and returned it home, where the scientist started going trough the logs in hopes to find out what happened to her and what placed it in a decaying orbit around the sun in pieces. But the logs were scrambled, mostly cry for help from the Captain of Orilliah. Nothing useful and it was shelved for later date. As they received word that new and potentially dangerous civilization made their way to Sirius.
According to their files, when Nomad invasion began, they mostly tried to contact them in secret hoping to know more about their origins and their plans, but this mission failed fatally and got high damaged by the Nomad civilization.

Introduction of the Branches

Logistical Branch

Logistical Branch was the 2nd Branch to be formed within Mithranian Research Institute because of the growing need to move delicate hardware and sensitive materials. Logistical Branch was first commanded by a CEO „Clementine Horas“ she did her job well and earned the personal trust of the Director, under her reign the Logistical Branch thrived, when they didn’t have anything to do within MRI they were doing contracts for the Zoners and occasionally for the Bretonians. However her reign did not last long as she was believed to taken prisoner by The Wild, however she was marked as KIA by the Director.
After her untimely death the Director took it bad, and did not appoint a new CEO, therefore the Logistical Branch command fell upon the Second-in-Command. There was talk to disband the Logistical Branch and relocate the pilots to other Branches. After few months had passed a new CEO was finally appointed and she is still a CEO of the Logistical Branch, her identity is not widely known but she is careful and determined, she is flying the Logistical Vessel „Aurelia“.

Research Branch

Research Branch was the first Branch ever to be formed within Mithranian Research Institute and it is the Heart of MRI, without it MRI would have never been formed, the current Branch Leader is the Director but if any good candidate emerges then he/she will be the Branch Leader. Research Branch is focused on the main goal of MRI, however there are a sub division that is yet to be named as it is quite new, that focuses on other kind of research as well, while this division is small compared to the Branch it is making some progress on their subjects.

Exploration Branch

Exploration Branch was the 4th and final Branch to be formed within Mithranian Research Institute, this Branch is in charge of exploration of the Nomad and The Wild controlled space. ECO of the Branch was at first Hofux Quintus, under his command the Exploration Branch managed to gather significant data for the Institute but after 2 years of commanding he resigned after a conflict with some Nomad Gunboats in Omicron Kappa, he managed to escape barely, but lost 3 ships during that. Their deaths proved to be too much for him. Currently ECO position is till unfilled and the command fell upon the Director.

Defensive Branch

Defensive Branch was the 3rd Branch to be formed within Mithranian Research Institute, their main goal is safeguarding the Logistical and Research Vessels and keeping the Institute safe. Admiral of the Defensive Branch currently is the Second-in-Command, previously it was „Argellia Kortof“, under his command the Defensive Branch performance was average at best. After couple of incidents the Admiral was faced with two options, he either resigns or was fired. He resigned.
