Misguided Light - The Story of Tarlach: The Exiled Nomad

For his own reason, Tarlach decided to store his memories here, within the minishare, here on this abandoned hive, for his own reference. Later, he will remember these moments to reflect on what he has become and what has changed.

He was hatched from the Shrine, like any other Morph. He seemed to be different though. he always wanted to learn about the human species. They seemed interesting, especially this one human he met, Raven. Something about her emotions and past made him feel no aggression towards her. Even when he matured into the mindshare, he still didn't seek harm to her.

Tarlach followed her through space nearly every solar day, wondering what she would do one day, and then the next. That's all he remembers doing back then. Every day, Tarlach followed Raven.

After a long time of interaction with Raven though, he made a decision that would change his existence forever. Raven's energy seemed to grow on him, like an airborne disease. Tarlach replicated her emotions and desires, and that's likely why he has been "corrupted" or "domesticated" as some humans refer to him. Because of Raven "infecting" him with her energy, Tarlach decided to separate from the mindshare, and side with the humans for the better of the universe. He hated this pointless aggression that may make both of our species extinct someday, if his kind can even become extinct that is. The humans prevented the Nomads from leaving our nest to safety, and they instead came in and made a disaster of the hypergate at the Dyson Sphere.

His kind raged war against the humans. All they wanted to do was leave, but the humans never let them. He made a promise to bring neutrality between the two species, however preposterous that may sound, and save what the humans label as "Sirius" from destruction.

A side effect of leaving the mindshare though, was that he lost most of his memories. Tarlach retained his individuality and emotions, but most of what he remembered was gone. He had to find a new place to save his "data". Tarlach finally found an old abandoned hive in Chester; it was capable of holding him and everything he needed. It was his new home. He lives there even now, inside the safe haven.

Now that he has a save point for my memories and mind, Tarlach can venture out and collect more information on the human species. Raven will be what Tarlach refers to as "his Guardian", and his number one source of information, because he trusts her. She is...his friend.
Entry - Closing the Distance

Tarlach and Raven have been flying together for a while. The Elders didn't take kindly to his motives. Tarlach was exiled, and he now frequently flys with Raven. Before he learned to speak as a human with his telepathy, it was too inefficient and garbled, so he had to find some other way to communicate with humans efficiently. His plan was to start a minishare and link her to it. Tarlach could speak to her with near perfect speech and accuracy, and he could bring others in as needed. The process was simple: he brought to her an artifact, and another one to her friend, Christopher. After a slight bit of pain, they were linked together. They could speak with their minds, not their mouths. The distance had been closed.

However, holding a minishare on Tarlach's own was a huge strain on his mind; he felt extremely drained. He had to search for something to hold the weight of the minishare, before it crushed his mind. Tarlach managed to make use of the abandoned hive as an amplifier that could hold it. The change was significant. The weight was gone, and the power increased tenfold. Raven, Tarlach, and Chris were now able to communicate freely throughout Sirius.

Tarlach also brought another human into the minishare, his name was Hunt. He was a friend of Raven who swore to be allies to the cause, and help Raven and Tarlach on their mission: to bring neutrality between the humans and Tarlach's Elders. They believed if they could gather other people into this alliance, they might be able to achieve their goal.
Entry - Hunting

This day was filled with Tarlach and Raven being chased. Tarlach suggested for the group to go to the outer Dyson Sphere to remember and reflect upon past experiences. However, he shortly felt that Incubi and his Elders were on their way to kill Raven. They managed to pull out and escape them just in time. In the process though, he made Raven remember something that she didn't want to, and he experienced guilt for it.

Raven, Tarlach, and Hunt rendezvoused at the station orbiting the planet Gran Canaria. However, Hunt began to ask Tarlach questions about Raven, questions regarding if Raven told Tarlach anything regarding her distress. He lied once, but couldn't keep it in. His emotions were detectable in the minishare, and Hunt pulled it out of Tarlach. This information was enough to make her run off the bridge for a while, and simultaneously. Tarlach fled in regret.

Eventually, Tarlach told Raven to meet him at a jump hole leading to Dublin. It was a bad mistake to rendezvous here, as an Order ship came through and immediately began firing upon Tarlach, but Raven interupted them and protected Tarlach, allowing him to escape.

The problem was, the Order ship contacted the rest of its party, and eventually the entire system of Omega 49 was filled up. For some reason, the Reapers and a Zoner met up along with the Order, and they all began arguing over something.

Tarlach was unable to understand what their point was, as he wasn't paying much attention to them. After a while, Auxesia and Tarlach left the feud and proceeded to Omega 47. They were followed; the vessel Kes'Reena was with them and the group began conversing with Kes'Reena. During the event though, they were interrupted by an Outcast battleship passing through before they could finish their interaction. Raven, Tarlach, and everyone else, including Kes'Reena, who engaged because it interrupted her, took it down.

Unfortunately, unexpected things happened when it went through a jump hole. Everyone followed it through to Omega 49 when it jumped; two order ships were there, as well as a few other unrecognized vessels. Tarlach quickly made a run for it and cloaked before they could catch him, as he stood no chance against them. Kes'Reena, on the other hand, decided to fight both of them. Even if it was obvious it wouldn't win, it gave its all. In the end, Kes'Reena went down. The Order ships then taunted Tarlach, with Tarlach taunting in retaliation before leaving. Afterwards, they left to see if the Order would follow them (it turns out they wouldn't).

For the last segment of the day, they just went around Sirius, mostly silent the whole time. They met a Junker inside of Newcastle, looked at the ancient hive in Newcastle, and relaxed inside of Cortez for a while. Finally, Raven and Hunt traveled with Tarlach to the hive in Chester, and then he rested the remainder of the day.
