Joel was a son to an enterpreneur from Planet Manhatan and middle-class woman and had two brothers: the younger Mark, and the older Jeremy - with the latter being father's son from the previous marriage; No wonder that Jeremy and Joel hated each other, leading into number of arguments between both.

One day, when parents left Jeremy with his younger brothers, Mark had a fatal accident: while reaching for cookie jar out of anyone's control, knife from the magnetic stall dropped from it and violently ended the child's life - impaling his head. When Jeremy arrived to the scene, he found Joel with blade in his hands, blood on his shirt and the youngest brother in pool of blood. Seeing the opportunity, the oldest of the Culley brothers called the police.

Joel was falsely accused by his older half-brother to murder the youngest son. Due to the quite known feud between Joel and Jeremy, no one gave a single thought to former's defence. Charged with second-degree murder, but being underage of age 15 at the time, Joel was sentenced for four years in a mental asylium. Only mother believed that Joel was innocent of supposed crime.

During that time, his father died and the estate was overtaken by Jeremy - being the only eligible heir to the business, cutting ties with his mother-in-law and, unrelated by blood, younger brother. Four years in the asylium are all but mystery kept by Joel, without any will to speak or even share the slighest details to anyone. Not yet.

When the sentence have ended in early 823 A.S., Joel was released and taken home by his mother. Since them, all what drives him is to revenge for false accusations and unjust sentence. Due to his past in asylium, he has problems to find any legit job within Liberty as his infamous persona is known. Yet another reason to fully hate onto Jeremy.

//OORP tips regarding roleplay with the character

1. Joel as a character is usually calm, but quite nervous when it comes to LPI. He has little trust towards Libertonian justice, since he was falsely accused and sentenced by Manhattan's High Court.
LPI may use this fact to indirectly harass the character or force him to do morally questionable things.

2. Joel Culley is a name quite known in Liberty, stigmated as a guy who murdered brother. The fact we was in asylium is the main reason used by Libertonian Corporations not to give him any respectable work - save for waste and garbage disposal from their bases.
Libertonian corporates may use this fact to refuse any kind of work, or force him to comply with their restrictions as they see it fit.

3. As for now, Joel has the minimal education provided by asylium's facilities. It does not mean he's not intelligent - but lack of proper education is something that is quite humiliating and, as those are not private information, might be used in chat as well.
This fact may be used by anyone, as lack of education is usually the main reason of rejection for even the most intelligent characters.

4. The character possess certain "abilities" that might have him locked up by LSF. Time to time, he hears the certain 'singing' and sees certain 'visions' - both surfacing in the middle of his asylium sentence. However, no one knows about these abilities except for a very few he entrusts entirelty. This little fact may be used as expansion of character by the Nomad-related players.

5. Connecting with the very first point, the character is still recovering after his time in asylium - there is trauma present for some unknown reasons yet which he seems to hide under shell of introvert individual.
As a result, Joel can be easily taunted or put into depression due to undeveloped mental stability.
