Dear Jack,

The Seraphim has started a new program against slavery. Considering the outcasts are known for using slaves in their cardamine crops we expect the slavers to transit through the Tau systems to deliver slaves to the Maltese Nacion. This means, the slavers ships must flight through IMG space.

So, I was wondering what was the position of IMG toward slavers.
I hope to hear you soon about that topic.

Best Regards,

Dankien Moebus

Dear Mr. Dankien Moebus,

The Independent Miners Guild has been locked in a deadly struggle against the inhumanity that the Outcasts are trying to force into the Taus from their Omicron hideouts. As you likely know, Tau patrols are targetting Cardamine, but as you already mentioned, the cardamine plantations are run by the use of slaves and forced labour. Consequently, our patrols and hired guns are also aiming at slavers.

There is a relevant difference here, though: While we are unscrupulous in the destruction of Cardamine or other resource shipments, we do not attack slavers carrying human cargo with the intent to destroy the ship. Our priority is to rescue the crew, if possible by making the commander surrender. If this is not possible, ships can be destroyed, but a rescue mission has to be initiated immediately via IMG Emergency Channels to rescue the survivors and salvage the dead.

For your convenience, I'll send you the relevant articles from the IMG bounty board about intercepting slavers:

Quote:Transports carrying Slaves

Available in: Taus and Liberty space

Description: Slavery, an inhuman and horrid activity is still employed by various criminal organisations and especially by the Outcasts. IMG over the years has intensified its methods in order to save as many lives as possible.

Procedure:

Option 1: If you have an available transport, you may demand from the slaver to jettison his human cargo. Then the transport will tractor it and unload it to the closest lawful station.
Option 2: If you do not have an available transport, you should demand the slaver to dock to the closest lawful base that he do so and release the slaves (e.g. Freeport 11, or Falkland - if his repsheet permits it). IMG Agents on the base make sure the slaves are freed.
Option 3: If the slaver does not comply with your demands, then you should use this option. Destroy his ship and retrieve the human cargo by either using an available transport or calling for one to come at the site.

Required Evidence: Timestamped photo of the cargo hold prior of docking and after the launch. Furthermore, it is also required to have scans of the slaver too. Interesting parts of the chatlog are also welcomed to be submitted for further bonuses.

Standard Payment
:

> 1 - 1000 Saved Slaves: $4,000,000
> 1000 - 3000 Rescued Slaves: $8,000,000
> 3000 - 5000 Rescued Slaves: $10,000,000
> Destruction of the transport does not yield an additional bonus, as it endangers the safety of the passengers. We encourage non-violent means to save human lives.

Are you interested in assisting?
The Guild can help you in making it work.
We have a history of finding solutions for parties that want to do the right thing at the right time with the intention of making a difference. You are definitely one of these persons.

Yours sincerely,

Jack Henderson

Dear Jack Henderson

I am glad to see that IMG is already well organized against slavery. I think we could provide some support to rescue the slaves that you would free in space. For that we would need a close cooperation between the Seraphim and IMG. As I see it, we could have a passenger transport ship docked in Freeport 10 or Freeport 6 and ready to assist you in space. You could contact its captain in real time to rescue the slaves if the slaver does not comply and forces you to destroy his ship. We could use the S.K.Y.P.E network for that purpose.

Moreover, I was also wondering if your cardamine/slaves policy was coordinated with the Colonial Republic and/or the TAZ organization. I mean do you share tactical information between each other when tracking cardamine/slaves transports? Maybe the Seraphim could help to federate the different parties.

All the best,
Dankien Moebus

Dear Mr. Dankien Moebus,

The Guild would be foolish not to accept your offer of help. A ship that is specialised in transportation of human cargo would of course be much better suited than most of our transports that we can hurry to the scene to rescue the survivors. I think your ship can make the difference between life and death of hundreds, if not thousands.

To make this happen, please contact me on my Sky-P3 as given in my ID profile to be added to the relevant emergency frequencies.

About the cooperation with TAZ and Colonial Republic: this is a tricky thing and could be improved. At the moment, I assume we have three systems that are more or less running parallel. When we meet each other on a mission, I have seen assistance happening, but it is not organised the way it could be done. Please explain how you think you could improve the system because I am a firm believer in success by cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

Jack Henderson

Dear Jack Henderson

Sorry for the delay, the crisis on Freeport 11 required all my time and then I had to conduct some business inside the Houses, The good news is that the Seraphim has acquired a large passenger transporter from DSE. The cargo hold has been specially adapted to human cargo and it has a pretty strong armor to deal with hostile environment.

Regarding slaves and cardamine, we are worried by both of these topics but slavery appears primary to us. One of our members has developed an anti-slavery program. So I would like he presents it himself. However, the thing is that I did not hear from him for a while so I begin to fear that something bad happened. The main idea of this project stand on a collaboration between IMG, TAZ and CR to track slavers and disrupt their activities in the Coronado-Baffin-Tau corridor. I will try to catch him. Otherwise I'll present this anti-slavery program myself.

Last thing, and not the less, thank you very much for supporting zoners of Freeport 11. It is really appreciated.

Best,
Dankien Moebus

Dear Mr. Dankien Moebus,

Any flight that is dedicated to the assistance of Freeport 11 is time well spent. We are only men and we can only be at one place at the same time. No one understands this better as someone who has to distribute the Guild's assets and manpower in these hectic times.

It is great to see another ship that is equipped and ready to face the slavery threat. The Guild is short on ships that can carry people in a humanitarian acceptable way - except some small shuttles, but they are not feasible for many passengers. Therefore we will gladly rely on your ship and trust in your dedication to the cause.

Your anti-slavery program sounds promising. Intercepting the shipments of human cargo in the Taus often presents the smugglers with options to escape. But the Baffin-Coronado corridor has much less places to run to for these criminals, and also Tau 29 can be a better place for an intercept compared to Tau 23 of Tau 37. Therefore, by all means, get this person and patch him or her into this channel to present the idea and if impossible, present it yourself. I surely hope your partner is fine.

The Guild appreciates your work. Keep it up. Sirius needs more people who know what is the right thing to do and who have the strength and determination to actually do it.

Yours sincerely,

Jack Henderson

Dear Jack Henderson,

I have still no news from Jason Kelly, so I will take the lead on this project for now. Jason will still be welcome to manage it when he will be back.

The idea is to involve all interested parties in the anti-slavery program and to channel the effort into a common action against slavers.
Based on our information, slavers has two routes to reach the Maltese Nacion: the Tau corridor and the Sigma corridor.
At this moment we are still collecting information on existing anti-slavery programs at the local level (i.e. system or couple of systems).

We think the IMG, Colonial Republic and TAZ are key actors in this project because of their great influence in Tau, Baffin and Coronado systems.
We also believe the key of success of an interfaction anti-slavery program is the communication between factions to enable an efficient share of information.

As a first move we could build a data base identifying slavers:
- name and firstname
- ship name
- ship type
- escort if any (including ship name of escort)
- time and location where it has been seen
- reaction if caught: comply with authority, escape, fight.

Also, maybe patrols should be scheduled in relations with other factions.
Of course, we should have a ship ready to transport the free slaves to a safe place.
Then, we must help slaves to return to a normal life: where they come from or in a new location to be determined.

This is what we have in mind for now.
What do you think?

Dear Mr. Dankien Moebus,

Thank you for taking the initiative on this operation, we appreciate it a lot.
I totally agree that we have to work closely together if we want to have any striking impact in this issue.

Quote:- name and firstname
- ship name
- ship type
- escort if any (including ship name of escort)
- time and location where it has been seen
- reaction if caught: comply with authority, escape, fight.

I am not so sure about all these categories.

> Name and First name of the reporting interceptor? - We will likely not learn the name of the slaver
> Shipname of the slaver? - It's about the slaver ship, isn't it?
> Shiptype of the slaver? - It's about the slaver ship, isn't it?
> Armor of the slaver - CAU6-8, HAU, UAU, No armor
> Route used by slaver? - I think this one would make sense.
> Time & Location - I am not sure whether that is that important. But if not, it can be left out.
> Reaction if caught - that one works for me.

I suggest you open a new channel, open to all the parties of the anti-slave effort.

The question about what happens after the intercept can be answered easily: We take them to Java or to Falkland. We are trying to get them into rehabilitation, which is still in a makeshift stage at this moment. However, we have a R&D ship here that acts like a hospital ship. We are trying to give them Stabiline treatment, sponsored and supported by Cryer.

The IMG has ships, but everybody who is part of this mission needs to be able to provide Search&Rescue. We can coordinate the effort via our Emergency Channel.

Yours sincerely,

Jack Henderson

Good day,

This data base project might be ambitious indeed since we would need to collect some data, Here are some clarifications:

> Name and First name of the reporting interceptor? - We will likely not learn the name of the slaver
I was referring to the name of the slaver: in the case we can have it we could report him to house authorities and sue him. However, maybe the ship name is sufficient for that. I agree that the chances we get slaver names are low.
Actually, it would be good to have the name of the interceptor that made the submission to the data base.
> Shipname of the slaver? - It's about the slaver ship, isn't it?
Yes, that's correct.
> Shiptype of the slaver? - It's about the slaver ship, isn't it?
Yes, that's correct.
> Armor of the slaver - CAU6-8, HAU, UAU, No armor
Good idea to add this info.
> Route used by slaver? - I think this one would make sense.
I agree. Does it mean we would have spies to identify these routes? I do not expect the slavers will tell us where they get slaves.
> Time & Location - I am not sure whether that is that important. But if not, it can be left out.
It is complementary to the route info, the idea is to look for some temporal patterns. If patterns are identified, then we could optimize our patrols.

So for now I have to contact TAZ and CR to get their opinion on the slavery topic.
Also, something else, note that I have some unexpected delay with DSE to get our transport ship.
