.....In recent weeks, Order expeditions to the surface of Toledo discovered a strange anomoly. As crews combed through the snowy tundra that engulfed the planet, some began noticing small areas in which the soft snow turned hard... and colder. Soon fields covered with dots of ice were discovered. And in the center of these ice circles were holes.

.....At first the sight of this astonished exploration crews, but as they walked over these strange fields, with their body heat and gear warming the ice as they traversed over it, little tacky noises appeared behind them. When they turned, swarms of white... pebbles were moving over where they had just passed and "shivered" on the tracks the crews had left. Then the small objects returned to the ground and the fields were covered in ice again. When a crewmember went back to feel the ground, he had troubles taking his glove off the ice. Once temperature readings were taken, the newly grounded ice was much colder than the untouched areas.

.....Careful to traverse around these ice fields, crews returned to base and reported their finds to the Order Research Institution. Once reported, Admiral Sius Malacos took a special interest in these native inhabitants of planet Toledo, as there were not many known sentient beings in Order space. He himself along with his apprentice Sasha Vorile and a small crew went out to a nearby ice field and warmed a small part to attract some of these scarabs. Once they sprung from their ice holes in the cold ground, some were captured and brought back to the research base on Toledo for research. None were harmed, and an immediate chill environment was created to house the new guests.

.....Back in Chillmark Research Institute on planet Toledo, more careful and close observations were done on these Scarabs.
.....To start, they were only as big as the outer joint of an adult thumb, very small in size. When seen from the top, the entire body is covered in a snow-white shell. This appears to be an excellent form of camoflouge. When one was placed in a small container of snow and lightly shuffled around, it took a scientist a few minutes to find the creature by hand. While this occured, the Scarab was noticed to retract it's "legs" in towards its body. The legs are a clearer color, almost pink, and once retracted all appearance of life has dissapeared and all that remains is a small white pebble.

.....The entire "shell" of the Scarab is hard to protect it from outside forces, however it is also covered in very small hair folicles that help it resist the cold temperatures of Toledo.

.....When the head of the Scarab was examined, the "eyes" or "bulbs" of the creature were black in color.
This is the only part of the body, besides the legs, that were not white. Around the facial area, where the senses are located, the white hair folicles that otherwise protect the Scarab are not present.

.....To account for these black bulbs, it was theorized that since these insects live in swarms underneath the planet surface, light was not available and hence these bulbs allowed the Scarabs to see in infrared and around a large rarius on both sides.
