Operation "Ouroboros"
Hello esteemed members of the Royal Navy. I am Francois Drake Général de Division - Commander of the Foreign Legion. *He bows*
I believe this is the first time we have been acquainted, and I contact you this day to ask your thoughts on an operation we have put together to assist our further advance into Sirius and slowly complete the encirclement of the crumbling House of Bretonia.
We believe as we drive a wedge further between Liberty and Bretonia our push north into the Cortez system will make it difficult for the enemy to maintain supply lines from Liberty. As Bretonia is cutoff their surrender can only be a matter of time.
However, not much is known about the systems north of Magellan.
Preliminary data recovered from the wreckage of Freeport 4 indicates there are at least 3 systems within a jump or two of the Magellan system, namely Cortez, Coronado and Inverness.
Not much is known about the entities that operate within these systems other than that Cortez is a transit system between Bretonia and Liberty, Coronado has a large colonial presence and Inverness is yet to be explored fully.
I think it would be unwise for our forces to push further into the North and Cortez until we know what military infrastructure lies within these systems.
I put forward the outline for a reconnaissance mission the Legion would like to perform to map these systems and record / report all activity we detect therein.
Operation Ouruboros outline:-
Mission Roster:
-1 Reconnaissance Vessel (Special Adaptations installed, Class *****)
-3 Perilous Gunboats
-4 Cougar Bombers
-4 Lynx Fighters
Mission Objectives:
-Penetrate enemy lines in Cortez, Coronado and Inverness
-Take reconnaissance photos of all military / civilian installations
-Complete maps of each system with locations of all points of interest noted
-Record activity of local militias / encounters
-Provide complete report for GRN High Command
Mission Risks:
-Heavy resistance from local Paramilitaries and Militias of unknown strength
-Loss of vital intelligence
I forward this proposal to yourselves as I would like to know your thoughts on it, and I would also like to use this operation as an opportunity to form good working relationships with other naval units. I feel a team effort could ensure mission success, we don't know what we may encounter out there given this is an expedition to areas of hostile space outside of our normal patrol paths. The risk is high but the reward even greater.
Général de Division - Francois Drake, signing off. Vive le Roi
