K, so I downloaded qbittorrent after a while. How do you download the .7z file on the website using the program?

The link will take you to the "iso.zone" website. Clicking on the download button "should" start qbit and download the torrent. Hope you can get it to work. Just post here if not, and we will do our best to help.

Download .iso here:

Extract and then mount the .iso (Use WinCDEmu if you do not have anything to mount).

Open the mounted .iso, run setup, which will install Freelancer.

Download mod:
http://discoverygc.com/files/discovery_4.88.1.exe

Run .exe and when complete, you should have an installation of DSLauncer ready to go.

Stuck with the first part, because it downloads too slowly and I don't have a way to download it via qbittorrent.

As far as the torrent goes, I use Utorrent myself, I know it's supposed to be bundled with some undesirable things according to the page here, but I've never had an issue with it, and I've used it for almost 2 years. Give it a shot, it works great.

Assuming you are on Windows, when the download window opens, select "Open with" then locate qBittorrent, the program should then open and begin downloading Freelancer.

No.
The vanilla part (.7z extension), not the mod.

Try left-clicking on the iso download link and see if it gives you the option Meph showed. Use "open with", and that should allow you to use qbit.

Meph is right, the download is pretty slow. Just start it up and find something to do for the next hour or so while it downloads. That's about the best option at this point.
