“I do not know how much Zoners see or understand of our wars. That is, if anything at all. Do you even know why? Probably not either… Core in all its forms, splinter groups and ever changing administrations are symptom or Huxleyan parasites hellbent to use Nomads as a resource to make humanity drop on its knees. They had declared a total war on us as their ideological opposite, Zoners. For all intents and purposes, that means we won't ever see peace in Omicrons until their faction is broken beyond repair, until every single man under their command either perishes or flees. Core will not be beaten until their economic base is completely destroyed and their means of waging war irrevocably nullified. Just like that, they will also never let us live, already proving their genocidal tendencies by committing atrocities against non-combatants on Nauru and Toledo. We did not asked nor picked this war but there may be only one left. Total war is concept terrible yet not unknown…. You have only to look towards Solar war.”

“...But I digress. You could write a book about Omicron affairs. I was not opposed to Zoner-Core peace. What I did opposed were Zoner - Core collaboration. Economic and diplomatic ties to Core greater than those you provide to us marked you as part of the wider warmachine we have to fight in order to survive. You do not want to fight… neither does the captain of Core transport when intercepted by bunch of Order fighters. I hope we are on the same line of thought here. If you insist on carrying as you do, there is zero chance of peace. Zoner support for The Order nowadays is negligible especially in aftermath of Freeport 11… not that it was of any particular quantity before that. Nothing for The Order to lose here.”

“Ideally, you would outweigh the blood price we are suffering on hands of Core funded by your trade. This would only lead to another incident in couple of months. Tears and bloodshed flowing in the wake of another spike of another highlight of Omicron war only to be forgotten a year later. Other solution, the one I would personally favor are that your movement, as a whole retracts from politics and stays neutral as so you claim to be. You will deal with no Core, and no Order. You will retract your support to Core’s claim of Delta, neither you will make any move to acknowledge our stakes in the system. There is grey area in obeying both the Order Protectorate and Core’s own pathetic imperium. It will also mean the Zoners will not enjoy any kind of preferential treatment by us, naturally.”

“We can discuss the precise details or come to agreement with something more viable that I may had not foreseen. You may yet to surprise me. However, there is likely nothing you can put on the table that will steer us away from dealing with Ingenuus as we see fit. They have overstayed their welcome in Omicrons but I think we can agree that their actions nowadays are not in accordance with Confederation’s best interests..."
Voncloud lent back in his chair, one arm crossed over the other perched atop it which his chin in hand, listining to what was undeniably some actual reasonable suggestions although he had a small amount of ire for a statment that Shepherd had made.

He readjusts his glasses before standing from his chair, his arms go behind him in a butlers type walk as he paces.

"First of all, Shepherd, i don't beleive the Station was in any way an issue to your lines, since it was within our no fire zone, right next to the freeport, it wasnt near any sort of jump hole or any other Order asset, it was no more an area denial tool then Freeport 11 itself. Secondly, id like to bring up the fact that ive been told by the Admiral here when i requested help against a set of Nomads who had been popping up that He didnt have any resources allocated to Delta due to needing them all closer to Home, how can you mention the station being within your lines when your not even covering the area activity?

He stops his pace to look over "..Not enough assetts for Nomads, but enough for an unarmed modular station...strange that"

His pacing continued

"Admiral, your right that with how things stand peace is not attainable but it is not fully the Cores fault on that front, Both The Order and The Core are like bucking Deers, unwilling to stand down so you continue to fight, even though both of your organisations have shown great Diplomatic prowess along side your Military one you instead hold onto grudges and grievances, doing nothing but prolonging the war between you and inflicting more suffering along the way.
i realise nothing i say will change that nor get you to open dialogue with the Core outside of declarations to attack but consider how much of your resources would be freed up if you reached even a cease fire. But i digress.

What your suggestion about being Truely neutral is i think the best course of action. We remove ourselves entirely from the diplomatic scene we keep to our freeport and nothing more. So as to keep a fair playing field we will remove docking access to both the Core and the Order so that we will not be seen as to favour one or the other. The No Fire Zone will also not extend to cover Core or Order vessels, so noone can be accused of seeking shelter within. If a Core Ship is next to the Freeport, its free game, and same to be said for Order ships. We will not get involved unless the station or a fellow Zoner end up being involved.

Voncloud collects one of the freshly made drinks before sitting back down and taking a sip, the way he was looking one could argue he was looking at the pair over his glasses.

"Of course, you realize this will have to extend beyond Freeport 11
“The Order had signed armistice treaty with Maltese government in Omicron Beta, have news not reached you yet?” Admiral expected Zoners to be slightly more informed as to why so many more Order assets are seen in southern Omicrons as of late. “The war in the north is over and the most influential cartels of the Outcasts agreed to utilize Nomad detection equipment provided by us. Granted there are problems… like Commune…”

There haven’t been more Order guns pointed towards Omicron Delta since better days of Toledo, Freeport 11 being witness to that. Admiral formulated his own suggestions towards the Zoners, inquisitive rather than dictating terms.

“For all intents and purposes, I will be referring certain factions as ‘powers’ from now on... those Omicronian powers will be The Order, Core, Corsairs, Outcasts and the Artificial Intelligence of Kappa… Feeling generous here. While the treaty touches mainly us two and Core, this distinction will be important.”

“Say. No Firing Zone… about 10 klicks in diameter at maximum will be marked as area of self-governance according to our own Space Code. It will be done in trust that Zoners will ensure that Freeport 11 will never be utilized as smuggling den for Nomad and Artifact traffickers. If old ideal of Zoners against slavery is still alive concept, more power to you with my full approval. Your perimeter should never allow construction of any additional station, Freeport 11 alone is sufficient. In spirit of good will, I suggest that illicit cargo gets disabled by local security force or be permitted to be enforced by local Powers at First Come - First Served basis so long it does not result in just another standoff between the powers. That is if you wish to take on such responsibility”

“Concept of Zoner militia resonates badly in the ears of history but I wholeheartedly will approve of any initiative that also gains sanction of Confederation to serve as Freeport 11’s own security team. I am ready to delegate some degree of immunity and leeway in order to provide them with tools necessary to accomplish their tasks on our side of the astro-sirius big picture. Just tell me what you require of us.”

“I do not think also such drastic moves as banning us all from each Freeport will be necessary. I suggest stricter rules to reduce tensions. Permit small ships and adequately marked research vessels of each Power to enjoy full protection of the NFZ under careful eye of the CoF. To prevent their untimely demise, ban on loitering of dedicated warships of the Powers sized gunship or larger… or at least Core and Order primary and secondaries alike is necessary to enforce some form of stability. Rule ought to become null if combat or chase was already initiated outside of the perimeter or Nomad incursion alert is in effect. Otherwise… no exceptions. I do not want my more independent-minded captains with cojones the size of Ancient Jupiter to trigger the Core. In this case I need your help.”

Admiral grinned, just for a second.

“Therefore it will become standing order for our fleet to not park itself on Freeport. Any engagement by Zoners done against secondary or primary asset in direct violation of it will be considered legal action by our Code in common with self-defense. Powers will be forbidden from initiating any kind of engagement against anyone but aliens and their confirmed lackeys, as well as any non-Power outlaws registered as undesirables by any of us. Exception to that will be humanitarian transports and their light escorts just so Cigarette-killers don't get any ideas.”

“I believe Core objects to House warships that sometimes stumble on deep space recon operations in Omicrons. The Order detests Auxesia and pro-Nomad combatants akin Commune. I think system will appeal to both sides to sweeten the deal. Let's keep the list as small as possible.”

“If Core demands to allow their logistic fleets to be able to buy Iridium from you or anything of the sort… just let them on condition that the other Powers can do the same. I will not push for any concessions to the Powers. Truly independent island of stability in sea of chaos if you gather enough guns around you.”
