I second this. But I also can understand the reasons of RP for having more factions around.
With most official factions their ideas are impossible to realize.
But I also think, it damages the overall factions activity. I would like the sight of 10-20 official faction ships online, rather than seeing 20 different fancy schmancy factions with 1-3 players. Maybe the admins and the storyteam could merge a few factions with similar goals or set a limit of player factions.
