Harry Callahan (Armando)
Name (First, Middle, Last): Harry Jace Callahan
Born: Feb 10th, 782 AS
Birth World: Cambridge
Status: Active
Familia: Armando (adopted in)

History:
Born on Cambridge to one of Bretonia's lesser-known aristocratic families, Callahan spent much of his youth working with his grandfather - Duncan Callahan, an aeronautics and astronautics engineer on Leeds. The two grew close over the years, and when Duncan died of heart-failure mid-way through Harry's teens, he left the boy a sizeable portion of his inheritance. Harry used this wealth to garner himself a vast array of exotic and complicated ship components and technology, simply to build them, tear them apart, and build them again to learn how they worked. Once of age, he applied and was accepted to the Cambridge Research Institute back on his home world.

A passionate academic, Harry completed his doctorate in Advanced Particle Physics in only 6 years, and stayed on as a teacher's assistant for another year and a half before deciding to pursue further education in Chemistry, Criminal Justice, and Mechanical Engineering for a time. Callahan never fully completed any of these other degrees, instead being offered a position as a weapons-development consultant for the Bretonian Armed Forces for a number of years during the Tau-conflict against Kusari. Though responsible for a number of efficiency improvements to Bretonian-capital weapons during the war, many of his other proposals were shot down - largely due to their nature as chemical or nuclear weapons to be deployed either planet-side or ship-side. Frustrated with his lack of progress, Harry disappeared from Bretonian space long before the conflict ended.

It wasn't until 820 AS that he re-surfaced, caught working with the Liberty Rogues in California; allegedly as a local head of drug smuggling based on Alcatraz. A prison-break by a number of rogues and Outcasts alike led to his escape not long after, and it was here that he met Javier Santana. An important figure in the Armando-family cardamine operations, Javier brought Harry back with him to Valetta, whereupon he was offered a position under Inquisitor Espinosa and Mario Olmos within the up and coming Crimson Cross- Church of Tarxien.

Though like most within the organization not sharing the beliefs that were otherwise advertised by the group, Harry set about implementing a number of his weapon-adjustments from his days within the BAF into the Maltese Navy. Eventually he became Development Head of the Cross's project Lightspear, a defunct top-secret project the Cross ran before their fracturing. In his time within the Cross, Harry developed a close bond with the late Izek-Fernando Armando, eventually being written into his will as a recipient of a portion of the family's fortune when he passed in 822. Callahan was the last individual known to Malta to have contact with Inq. Espinosa before her disappearance following her assassination of Mario Olmos, and has since stated multiple times he knows nothing of her whereabouts.

Administrative Notes:
Photographic memory - Psychopathic tendencies, unconfirmed - Leg injury sustained during time at BAF in lab-incident leaves agent unfit for both piloting and field operations.

Paulo Varela
[Image: iTZzD6T.png?1]
Name (First, Middle, Last): Paulo Aris Varela
Born: Dec 2nd, 703 AS
Birth World: Malta
Status: Active
Familia: Varela

History:
Born as the younger of a set of twins, Paulo and his sister Desdemona were born on Malta to the Varela Familia, a relatively wealthy family within Maltese society. Growing up near one of Malta's spaceports, Paulo regularly spent hours observing the incoming and outgoing fighters and warships. Despite the wishes of both his parents and his twin sister, Paulo signed on as an escort pilot for another family not long after completing flight training - flying 4 missions before seeing combat for the first time against a wing of bounty hunters. Despite his rookie status, Paulo managed to down an experienced enemy pilot on this, his first combat flight- earning immediate respect from both his wingmates, and flight-leader - for whom the bounty hunters were specifically targeting. Though many considered the kill to be a fluke, it and many more successful combat missions earned Paulo enough clout to quickly work his way into the Maltese Navy as a flight-leader with a wing of his own just a few years later.

Another 15 years into his career and Paulo was eventually granted his own command aboard the Mal Di Ventri, an escort Tridente configured for anti-fighter operations. Though there was a short adjustment period, the younger of the Varela twins soon became a capable captain of the Ventri, regularly being assigned to escort the RM-1 Storta "Pyrrhus" in the Sigmas and eastern Omicrons. In an engagement in a low orbit of Elysium, a Corsair attack force of nearly a dozen torpedo-bombers along with multiple gunship escorts struck the Pyrrhus' battlegroup during routine training exercises. Though Paulo and the Mal Di Ventri survived the engagement (albeit barely in the case of the latter). the Pyrrhus was destroyed, along with most of her other escorts. Though he was commentated for his part in the fight, Paulo reportedly considered the fight the lowest point of his career, despite the relatively high kill-count he and his crew aboard accrued to their names.

Finally tired of combat after an extensive military career, Paulo resigned his post, and returned home to the waiting arms of his family to help run the plantations. Not long after his return, Paulo's father passed of old age, and the donship of the Varela Familia fell to Desdemona. While Paulo had gone on to become an accomplished military officer, Desdemona had pursued a career in biological sciences - thus neither of them were exactly prepared to head the family business on the homestead. Despite this, Paulo volunteered as a right-hand to his sister in her new duties, and the pair now lead the Familia to this day. Despite her significantly more hawkish and brutal approach to interactions with other families and subordinates, Paulo played up the image his service history created in the minds of others; with fear being told that "the old-man wants to have a word" often being enough to encourage others to see things the twin's way.

When the Cross came to power, Desdemona brought the Varela familia with her as a member-family under the Church, using many of the reforms Tarxien brought to her own advantage and becoming one of the top cardamine-exporting families within the Cross during its height. During this time, Paulo controlled a small ring of spies within the Cross's structure, intent on seeking out and quieting any forms of dissent under the banner of the Inquisition. Though Desdemona got caught up in the rhetoric of the Crimson Cross during its hayday, Paulo was far more skeptical of the Church's ability to maintain control over any significant portion of Maltese society. He turned out to be right when the Cross collapsed, and both he and Desdemona rallied those families they could convince to follow their lead in the establishment of the Amalfi Union not long after during the new rise of the Council of Dons. Recently, with the Dons bogged down in political bureaucracy, Paulo has made use of what resources remained available to him to establish the Amalfi Directorate as the coordinated Intelligence and Militia forces of the Union.

Administrative Notes:
Extensive history within Maltese Navy - one of Malta's longest-serving Tridente captains, Willingly turned down promotion twice to stay aboard the Mal Di Ventri near combat hotspots, Obstinate

Jana Cruz
[Image: pm0wOKy.jpg]

Name (First, Middle, Last): Jana Klein Cruz
Born: Mar 5th, 791 AS
Birth World: Hamburg
Status: Active
Familia: Cruz (adopted in)

History:

Jana Cruz (born Jana Klein) hails from planet Hamburg in the long destitute house of Rheinland, raised in a semi-wealthy family who managed to profit off of the work of the poor laborers on the planet. She never accomplished much in school but excelled in a hobby nobody else in her class had: narcotics. Every kid in class was getting their high off of the Klein daughter, hidden from her family for well over a year in the aftermath of the nomad war in Sirius, notably its following years into the 810's. The increasing hold on narcotic's in Rheinland following an outcast connection to nomads forced Jana to go further and further into a lucrative ring she had established as an adult, at the height of her career, running a house wide ring from Bering before the Liberty-Rheinland skirmish, which ultimately led to the destruction of her ring.

The next chapter of Jana's life began on the day of that downfall, the piggish scientists of Liberty and Rheinland bickering over nomadic technology led to Freeport 2 being almost entirely upturned by the Rheinland Military, and due to a connection established to planet Hamburg from Jana, it was very obvious the jig was up. Jana was handed over to Police authorities in Rheinland and transferred over to Vierlande, a perfect prison overlooking what she used to enjoy, so close yet so far from the mischief she used to enjoy. In Vierlande she met contacts that would lead to her future, now present.

At this point Jana was 30, serving the beginning of her 30 year sentence for running a narcotics ring into Rheinland, bored with life and out of her element as a woman in a place where the patriarchy ruled. Jana began running with an Outcast gang in Vierlande to keep her image up and not fall prey to other prisoners, an outcast ring called "La Cruz", which was a more radical gang with intent worship toward the nomads. Jana didn't believe in this worship, but they were people that kept her safe, for the members of La Cruz believed that the drugs Jana supplied them with let them speak directly to the K'Hara. This served Jana well for years in Vierlande, until the ring was transferred and Jana completely separated from those who protected her. Jana was being transferred to higher security at the battleship Strausberg due to her connections with a fanatic outcast ring, and with her narcotics history the Military saw her as a cultist, and Jana knew she was associated with cultists now. However, knowing cultists comes at an advantage.

Upon Jana's departure from Vierlande, she found halfway through the flight, while running through with a patrol on the shuttle to the New Berlin jump hole, that La Cruz was more than a cult, they were a generation. Maltese galore came out of the asteroids, destroying the Bundespolizei and granting a chance to continue the prosperity of the "Seer" of La Cruz. Jana formally adopted the name "Cruz", however opted to keep her birth name as her middle name as a reminder of her former legacy blending into her present. Jana was adopted into La Cruz as an important supplier, granted a seat on the family chair and access over the family's coffers to keep in contact with the K'Hara.

Reminiscent of the Crimson Cross, Jana was disappointed that the faction had already dissolved under the National Council. The head of La Cruz put Jana in contact with Paulo Verela of the Amalfi Directorate, keen on using the grandfathered assets and mission of the Crimson Cross and maintain a proper intelligence agency in the rapidly unstable don society. Jana was brought in as a field agent, but her knowledge of foreign smugglers and the in's and out's of the criminal world certainly make her the bloodhound of Amalfi.

Administrative Notes:
Contacts within black market combined with former smuggling history make for a well versed tracking regime. Retains many outcast contacts in Rheinland.

Amalfi Dispatch/CNC
[Image: pOfM19O.png?1]

Established: 824 A.S.
Status: Active
Familia: Various

History:

When the Directorate was established as a formal entity, as opposed to simply a loose coalition of families working together, the need for a more unified command presence was realized and the control tower at Amalfi Airbase was expanded to include operational control assets for the entire group. This center directs the day-to-day operations of the nameless dozens that are responsible for making the Directorate possible. Logistics, combat, espionage, smuggling - every action the Directorate takes will at some point be routed through here, either in real-time or as an after action report that crosses the supervisor's desk, before being catalogued and disseminated to the rest of the Directorate through communiques or database entries.

The center never sleeps - there are always several dispatchers manning the consoles at any given time. These people coordinate and track all active Amalfi Directorate vessels within Maltese space and abroad.

-----

The following are excerpts from brief interviews of various personnel in and attached to Dispatch:

"This operations center can best be compared to the brainstem in terms of the function we performs for the Amalfi Directorate; whereas movers and shakers like Callahan or Varela direct the body on where to go and what to do consciously, we direct all the mundane little tasks that are needed to make the group stay alive." - Lidia, supervisor

"Dispatch handles identifiers differently than in most areas of Sirius. Vessels are referred to by the given name of the ship itself, not the individual pilot, because who is piloting each ship can change from day to day (and does, on longer trips). Some ships are sent out to be minor ambassadors, or to smuggle something from point A to B, or to gather up some of those odd little cryo-bugs out there in Beta....anything that needs doing really. Each ship has a mission assigned to it by Dispatch and then once that mission is finished they could get sent clear to the other side of the sector." - Claretta, dromedary pilot

"Freighter-class vessels are preferred by Dispatch since they have much longer independant ranges than fighters while still being reasonably small and fast. They can also carry relief pilots, and most Amalfi freighters have at least two pilots aboard at any given time." - Samuele, dispatcher

-----

There are a handful of notable freighters that are operated by the dispatch center at the present; these are listed below:

Pellestrina
Lampedusa
Lampione
Linosa

These may be found all over Sirius, as their missions change with the needs of the Directorate.
