In the early days of Sirius society, the brave, hardy colonists first stepped foot into the core worlds with only their dirty, utilitarian ships on their backs, and the promises of a future brighter than the one they've fled from. They worked, toiled the soil, harnessed the deepest of mountains and asteroid fields, and soon built great civilizations atop simple dirt and rock. Ships of all shapes and sizes now plow technologically-marveling trade lanes, crossing vast distances through superluminal jump gates, and when neither were present, were pushed forward by their cruise engines and their zeal.
Little did they know would be the cost towards this spur of expansion...
After eight centuries of hurried, without-hindsight development, we see mankind's last worldly bastions tarnished by both smog and scrap. Debris fields nearly the size of entire systems littering the space like their own asteroid fields, smog clouds from the churning of industry choking the very life of its people, and on its very planets are the bodies arisen from pollution and environmental negligence.
I was born into one of these planets you all may know as Planet Leeds. Once the industrial heart of Bretonia, and as of the time of this recording, a pawn of the Gallic Empire. But one thing remained the same despite the change of hands: it was a world dying from burning air, acid rains, and toxic oceans. It was a hellish world to grow up in, and the first time I went with my family on an off-world tour to Planet Cambridge, a lush, green world of clean air, pristine oceans and lush forests, it made me wonder,
"What did we do wrong with Leeds?"
Hence from that day forward, I made it my life's goal to showcase and help protect the beauties of natural Sirius, before we'd ever lose that chance again. 'Tis my hope that you, dear tourist, will look upon worlds such as Cambridge, Stuttgart, and Kyushu, and not only enjoy the very bounties they still offer, but also put thy time and energy into making sure our children, and our children's children, will still be able to experience them first-hand...
... rather than through the sad, artificial world of a holotainment band.
My name is Leon Harrington, but my mother calls me 'Fabulous'. For she believed my destiny would be something epic, something grand, or even marvelously-mythical! And I believe 'twill be a marvelously-mythical undertaking for yours-truly to once more open the eyes of the Sirian public to the possibilities of sustainable industry, to the promises of a greener, cleaner lifestyle, to the advances of responsible terraforming, and to the hopeful, exciting wonders that is eco-tourism.
May the solars guide all of us, and I hope th'will enjoy thy stay here... at Golden Oak Tours.
