"Commander Chara, It has been a number of years since we have met face to face so you'll have to excuse me while I ramble a bit. My name is Sean Goodman, I administrate Freeport 9, in the Theta system. I wanted to reach out to you today to discuss the Zoner position, as a whole across the sector, and in your neighborhood. Especially in these trying times."

Mr. Goodman,

It has indeed been awhile since we last spoke. I trust that you are well. Things here in the Taus have been mostly quiet, at least for us anyway. After Kusari and Gallia decided that my base was a border, both sides returned to their business. Kusari we have no real issues with. Gallia? Well, I get a lot of patrol ships by the 31 jumpgate that like shooting at us. Since it doesn't really hurt, we ignore them. For the most part, it's business as usual. We're still a low budget operation here as passing traders are a majority of our business. It is those traders that we get a lot of intell from. That said....

He leans forward, resting his large forearms on the table and clutching his fists
We have heard of the events in Omega 49. We know of the Bretonian battle group there and the assault on Tombstone. We have heard of Bretonian intentions to make it there own world. THAT I find sickening and cowardly. Suffice to say some of the Bretonian traders coming through here have had some exchanges with others here and even a scrap or two but it hasn't hurt business here that much, at least not yet anyway.

He sits back and sighs before continuing
I was going to send a ship for relief but as we have but a gunboat, a destroyer and barely enough crews for the two, I couldn't do it. My staff and I want to commission another ship for the base but we're not sure as to what yet. We would at least like to support relief efforts. Me personally? I wouldn't mind going back to my special ops days and purge the surface of Canaria of the invaders one by one.

So, um, what IS on your mind anyway? You have my attention.

-Blaine

"We're looking to revitalize the Zoner Position across the sector. Be it Ship Production, Personnel Training, or escort missions. However, much like yourselves we lack the capability to effectively project force on our own. Together we have the ability to create a force to be reckoned with. Already 9 and Lividia have fallen under the Banner of the Initiative. While we don't expect all Zoners to join our cause there are certainly a number of us willing to fight. Is 6 willing to join our cause?"

The big, burly man looks a good deal annoyed, if not angry

Well, Mr. Goodman,

My destroyer is in repair after confronting the Bretonians about their aggression in Omega 49. I don't fault my crews or my ship but their lack of experience. I'm not sure how but I will be moving to address this issue. To start, I will be commissioning a bomber and maybe a fighter. It's all I have funding for at this time.

I studied your initiative. We definitely need to start somewhere. To do nothing about this aggression or any aggression is a sign of acceptance. If nothing else, today we made a statement.
You may consider us onboard for the cause. Once I get another ship or two built, I will dispatch one to the 49 system.

While I'm thinking of it, we need to get some training in for those onboard. We MUST *slams his fist on the table* do better against the Bretonians and their allies.
