To the Residents of Aland Shipyard, Omega-3

We regret to inform you that, due to the necessities of the ongoing conflict with Gallia, we are serving you notice of our intention to commandeer Aland Shipyard for the duration of the conflict. The recent loss of Southampton Shipyard and our inability to easily access Scarborough Station in Newcastle have required us to look elsewhere. As your facility in Gibraltar is the only remaining shipyard in Bretonian territory, we have no other option. We are dispatching a crew to take over operation of the shipyard, along with a police escort to ensure a peaceful transition. We are willing to arrange to transport your people wherever they wish to go.

In the past, we've chosen to overlook certain transgressions committed by members of your organization against lawful Bretonian corporations due to more pressing concerns. Due to our circumstances, we are now in a position to correct that oversight. Her Majesty's Government is prepared to consider our use of Aland Shipyard for the duration of the war adequate repayment for IMG's attacks on Bretonian citizens. Provided no further actions of that nature are taken by your organization, we will make no further demands.

In order to lay the foundation for improved relations between Bretonia and the IMG, we promise to return the shipyard to your custody either upon the conclusion of the war, or upon the commissioning of a new shipyard to replace Southampton, whichever occurs first. In addition, we are intending to make upgrades to the facilities, which we will leave intact upon returning the station to IMG administration. We trust that leaving the shipyard in better condition that we found it will be sufficient compensation for the inconvenience to the IMG.

On behalf of Her Majesty the Queen,

The Government of the United Kingdom of Bretonia
God Save the Queen

To whom it may concern;

My name is Kai Richter, Director of Security for ALG. We have watched this development with great concern, given that Aland shipyard is the base of operations for Beta squadron of my division, and the home base of the battlecruiser Erdbeben, the flagship of ALG Security.
I'm saddened to announce that on this day, the 30th of January 826, our flagship was engaged by Bretonian Armed Forces combat vessels. Ships which clearly had not been informed about our agreement.

To quote from the agreement regarding the Erdbeben:

•The ALG Corporation will be given full access to the Omega 3 system for the usage of one (1) Sagamartha class battle cruiser
•The ALG Corporation will conduct training exercises away from populated areas (Note: Jump Gates, Trade Lanes, Spacial Installations, and Planet Sprague), unless express permission is given by the Admiralty Board of Bretonia, or the various Commissioners of the Bretonian Police Authority
•The ALG Corporation, and their approved Sagamartha Class Battlecruiser, will be expected to provide assistance to the Bretonian lawful forces (Armed Forces, Intelligence Service, Police Authority) if requested by the leading branches (//Officials) in the systems of Omega 3, and Cambridge. Further systems must be agreed by the War Cabinet prior to entry.
•The ALG Corporation will be expected to adhere to Bretonian Law (as outlined in the Charter of Interstellar Law) at all times.

The idiocy of the Bretonian pilots present was only reinforced when they brought in a battleship, not to clear up the situation, but instead to have sufficient force to engage the Erdbeben. We were very patient in the situation, but we would not depart from Aland via an unlawful order related to our mistaken status as an unregistered capital vessel.

Effective immediately, ALG will be suspending operations in Bretonia, and crown-operated vessels will no longer be welcome on our stations. We urge the Admiralty to take action to defuse the situation and avert further hostility. Until that time, Beta squadron has been notified to defend Aland against the aggressors.

Mister Kai Richter

This is a somewhat unusual case as it is typically the responsibility of the owner of all capital vessels to ensure that they are registered. However given that there has been a recent reshuffle in the records of the BPA, it isn't impossible that you were missed out. Rest assured the records will be updated.

With that being said, although you may have had the legal right to have your ship in the Gibraltar system, you could not prove it at the time. The BAF did not have access to the communication you sent to this government before hand, as such they were operating on what they knew, which was outdated information. While this is a simple case of miscommunication, we are disappointed that the captain of your vessel failed to handle the situation better. It would have been far more useful if your captain obeyed the Armed Forces orders and settled this matter in a more diplomatic setting rather than have them escalate to now.

The BPA record will be updated to include your vessel and your rights will be restored, however you are encouraged not to provoke the Armed Forces further.

In service to the Crown,

Alexander East
Secretary to the Cabinet

To Secretary East;

I'm happy that the crown acted quickly to defuse this situation, though I resent the accusation that we are at fault for failing to notice the lack of registration information. That is a problem for your record-keeping to correct, not ALG Security Division.

I also resent the implication that we were acting in any way provocatively, as all we did was launch the ship from its port of call. Now under normal circumstances, we would naturally obey any military order to leave an area. However, given the precarious situation at Aland, we felt this would be a violation of our alliance with the Independent Miners Guild.

As I understand there are still heavy discussions going on in the Guild regarding that. We will remain on high alert until they are concluded.

To whom it may concern;

Unfortunately, we must categorically deny your proposition.
Though there are many members of the Guild that are Bretonian and are observing the ongoing conflict with great concern and patriotic fury, there is a fundamental incompatibility between giving up our shipyards for warship construction, and the concept of an Independent Miners' Guild. Even with the support the Bretonian Crown might enjoy among our ranks, we simply cannot abide by a house's takeover of one of our station in principle, quite beside the fact that this would also dramatically hinder our mining operations in the Omegas.
If you insist on this course of action, we will consider it an act of war, and inform our allies.

You are forcing us between assisting the Kingdom and maintaining our independence, and given that choice, we will always choose the latter. Aland shall be fortified to the best of our abilities, and absolutely no hostile takeover will be accepted.
Hopefully, in the long run, you will respect our position. Until then, any encroachment will be met with gunfire.

I will be very frank with you sir, we understand your reluctance to hand over your shipyard, and we've tried our best to be patient. We particularly understand the difficulty you've had threading a neutral path trapped between hostile forces. The fact of the matter is, though, we need that shipyard. As a private corporation operating in Bretonian space, you have a duty to help us in our hour of need.

This idea you've had that you can operate in our space free of all obligations is simply false. The Independent Miners Guild has four bases in Bretonian space. Aland Shipyard, Cardiff Mining Facility, South Shields Refinery, and the Battleship Hood. All of them pay their required taxes to Her Majesty's Government just like any other private corporation. Cardiff and South Shields each send an MP to the House of Commons. You are not separate from Bretonia, and not free of your obligation to Her Majesty.

So, you've got a choice to make. First, acknowledge your responsibility and turn over the shipyard peacefully. After the war is over, you'll get an upgraded and improved shipyard, and you'll have Her Majesty's gratitude. We might even be willing to discuss expanding IMG mining rights in Dublin. That is not a small repayment for the temporary loan of a shipyard.

Alternately, you could attempt to resist, and lose everything. Make no mistake, resistance WILL cost you everything. If you fire on Her Majesty's forces in an attempt to prevent us from boarding the station, the Bretonian Government will consider that a hostile act and respond accordingly. Your attempt at neutrality will fail, you will be considered a Gallic ally and treated as such. All your stations within Bretonian space will be seized, their MPs will be expelled from Parliament, and their leadership will be imprisoned until the end of the war. Your accounts will be frozen. Your pilots will be regarded as enemy combatants, and you will never again be permitted to operate within Bretonia's borders. You might still have your holdings in the Taus, and a few lonely, isolated bases in the Omegas, but your losses in Bretonia will cripple you.

Let me stress one thing, The Bretonian government does not want that to happen. We value the IMG's contributions to Bretonia, and would rather cultivate an amicable relationship. At the end of the day, though, the choice is yours.

In Her Majesty's Service,

James George Hacker
Prime Minister

To Mr Hacker;

It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge your declaration of hostility. For all sympathies our members may have for your situation, the primary purpose of the Independent Miners Guild has always been exactly that - independence from the houses. We do not desire your Majesty's gratitude, in fact a house being indebted to us for services rendered is something we wish to explicitly avoid.

It is unfortunate that you do not seem to have understanding for our position, and I'm afraid hostility was the only possible outcome once you had made your demand.

You should find Cardiff to be evacuated, and as for the rest of our Bretonian holdings including Aland itself, we intend not to make them easy prey.
