Sujet : Formalised creation of a new intelligence division
Cryptage : CONFIDENTIEL DEFENSE
Néo Paris, 20 mars 742

Messieurs, mesdames,

Here is the formalised note announcing the creation of the Direction du Renseignement de la Marine, henceforth referred to as DRMar.

Considering the following :
- Increased expansionism of Bretonia outside of MRG area of operations,
- Decreased operational agility due to a larger commitment of MRG forces (London siege),
- Reshuffling of diplomatic ties between various state and non-state entities outside of MRG area of operations but within Gallic sphere of influence,
- Deteriorated levels of cooperation with the Gallic Royal Intelligence agency,

Amiral Montlaville de Chanteloup has demanded that the MRG benefit from its own intelligence division. It does not aim to replace or support the GRI, but to give a formalised structure to the Marine in order to carry out sensitive operations and answer its own requests for information. DRMar will be crewed by permanent agents (command and coordination staff) and temporary positions (MRG pilots and officers for the duration of the operation they've been attached to).

DRMar PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

- Gather tactical intelligence and assist in the targetting process. The MRG is the most powerful weapon of the galaxy. To strike true, it needs targets, and targets need to be identified and assessed. This needs time-sensitive intelligence gathering.
- Assist MRG decision-makers. To the unabated surprise of Gallic strategists, Valors can't solve every problem in Sirius. This is telling of the complexity and strangeness of this sector. As such, the Marine is in great demand of up-to-date information regarding the various entities that populate Gallia's sprawling sphere of influence.
- Carry out sensitive operations. The adversary has taken to operating where the MRG cannot reach them for various reasons. He shall not be allowed impunity. Sabotage, PSYOPS, extrajudicial eliminations and backroom dealings have become a sad but imperative necessity.
- Rally outside support. The MRG cannot be seen openly associating with violent non-state entities. And yet, those make up a very potent resource to wield against mutual enemies, as well as a way to extend Gallic influence both politically and economically. DRMar will endeavour to keep good relations and assist select entities for as long as they may be of use to MRG and the Crown at large.
- CONFIDENTIEL. You do not have the required clearance.

DRMar PROJECTED RESOURCES

- Owing to obvious security and confidentiality reasons, DRMar will possess few assets of its own ; low-profile ships will form the bulk of its limited pool. Civilian crafts are preferable for maximum deniability.
- In exceptional circumstances, a battlecruiser may be deployed.
- DRMar ships will be untagged and unmarked. Ship and pilot callsigns should be pseudonyms, left at the discretion of the operatives.

On a last note, DRMar will need a director. The director will be tasked with coordinating agents, task forces and operations, and will act as a liaison between AM de Chanteloup and DRMar personnel. Candidates should make themselves known to the amiral.

Cordialement,
CF L'Herminier

// OORP PART //
With GRI having trouble taking off and various developments occuring right on the doorstep of MRG ZoI, I have been experimenting with sending untagged, GRI ID'd MRG characters on various missions that would have been closed to the MRG ID. It's been a success so far and allows for a breath of fresh air for my players and lets other factions feel Gallia's interest and influence in a different manner than merely pews and gargantuan boasts. I will be very strict about keeping this both fair, in complete respect of the rules and, above all else, fun.

Perhaps in time, DRMar could go on to become a proper, fully-fledged GRI faction ; we'll see how it takes off.

Cheers !
Lana
