Taskmaster,

I have been in deep cover for the past six months at the request of the Commission taking notes on the situation with regards to Almace, Marathon, and Murakumo, with no status updates from home beyond "yes, we're still here" and "half the leadership is missing".

Now, I know the official line is going to be 80% expunged, 10% twisted reality, and 10% entirely fabricated. I'd like to know what's going on for real, partially because the safety and security of Taskmaster Kane has traditionally been under my banner, and partially because I want to know a bit more about the new Taskmaster I'm about to send six months of deep-crypto'd observation records to.

Someone fucked up royally somewhere, and I need to figure out who, what, and how.

A botched jump drive experiment. As I understand it, Kane insisted on personal involvement in the testing.

Escher was on an escort craft and got caught in the jump-rift, resurfaced in 41. He spent the last couple weeks recovering on Gran Canaria, then I picked him up and brought him back. Now he's preparing to leave again to try to track down Kane.

As far as I'm aware, Control recorded a gravitic anomaly, as is standard with a jump drive, but the anomaly was not anomalous - as far as the control tower could see, everything was functioning as it should have. Except, obviously, that's not the case, but we're in the dark as to why. It may have been a failure of the navigation computer rather than the jump drive itself.

That's all the information I have on the accident.

I was personally appointed to this position by Escher, which you can verify with him over a direct line if you would prefer. If you would rather not send the files to me, you can instead direct them to Sundog; she still has her old position.
