Future Technologies and Innovations, short FuTech, is libertonian-based company focusing on the development and construction of highly intelligent androids and their artificial intelligence.

Naming Convention

Our policies designate that every vessel piloted by an android must be identified as such, therefore such vessels carry an "-A" at the end of its ID. Note that some androids have names to which they're registered.

History

-- 813 A.S.

FuTech's history is best dated back to a group project conducted at Cambridge University where the founder James E. F. Percival led a group project determined to build a humanoid robot head that was capable of passing the Turing test, for reference, see the Turing test. While the robot's intelligence was imposing, it was not unprecedented and could not pass the test, it still earned the group numerous prizes at the university. Despite this failure, the group remained determined to work on the robot and develop its intelligence to an unprecedented level.

-- 815 A.S.

2 years later the group members, including Percival, finished their studies with a Master's degree. Percival finished his these on "The future and possibilities of artificial intelligence". The group stuck together and continued working on the project, funded by few sponsors. With continuous successes, the will to build a machine that was more than a head grew. Without the knowledge and experience, though, the group dissolved later, as progression on working on robotic limbs became stagnant. Percival decided not to quit the project and finish it on his own, therefore he applied to the Denver Insitute of Robotics.

-- 820 A.S.

While studying, Percival continued to work on the robot. Over the next 5 years, until he got his diploma, the robot started to look like a human, it was thus described as an android. In 820 A.S. Percival finished his second degree and went on to finish his long-term project. Technical difficulties caused the last sponsors to drop off of the project, leaving Percival with a half-finished android and no resources and money to continue. After his graduation, he worked in a factory for the next 5 years to gather the funds himself.

-- 825 A.S.

5 years later, the budget was high enough to allow the continuation of the program, without any sponsors, though, Percival had to succeed, otherwise, the project would have been shut down. The program was modified to be a special type of android, one that would assist shipping companies by flying transports and help with the logistics planet- and base-side. The prototype was henceforth labeled as "TP-100". Due to the great success, new sponsors would support Percival in his attempt to mass-produce these machines. A few months later, FuTech was officially founded as a startup company with few resources, sponsors, members but a working prototype.

-- 826 A.S.

In 826 A.S. FuTech succeeded a groundbreaking experiment, the Turing Test Mark two. An experiment where a person would talk to a variety of people, trying to guess which one of is an android, the experiment counts as success, if the testing person cannot properly identify which one of the humans is an android. The success of this experiment allowed FuTech to brand its androids as intelligent on an unprecedented level, as well as the ability to mass-produce them for the public.

RZ-200 Transport Android

The RZ-200, previously called TP-series, was the first model developed by FuTech. It serves as a transport captain primarily used by shipping companies. It is specialized in using and adapting to all ships of from freighters to super transports.

SC-500 Security Android

The SC-500 series is sold as security androids to protect facilities and to escort vessels or patrol areas. It can pilot a large range of fighters and bombers and will do everything to save an allied ship.

WK-300 Household Android

The WK-300 series is sold as household assistants and for families with children. It is the more "common" android for the average Joe which is why these are the cheapest models.

AL-400 Relationship Android

The AL-400 series is capable of living complex emotional relationships with its user. It can perform a few household chores.

FuTech Production Center

The FuTech Production Center 1, referred to as "Wellspring", is the first factory in which androids are mass-produced. It is located in the industrial district of Planet Manhattan and produces about 5.000 androids per day. The factory operates mostly autonomous but several human overseers, mechanics, electricians, etc. are making sure the systems run flawlessly.

Oculus Squadron

The Oculus Squadron is a wing consisting only of androids that are more ruthless than the normal security models, they are fully autonomous in terms of leadership and an experiment of how android hierarchy works. Their MO is deliberately kept a secret to the CSO and CEO.

Our vision

What is our vision?

Our vision is to create a society in which androids are not only everyday items but deeply rooted within our social structures. By creating humanoid robots, we enable us, humans, a chance to integrate these machines into our societies to help us reach the dreams that humanity aims to achieve in the future.

How can we achieve this vision?

Achieving our vision cannot be done solely by our company, it requires the trust and the will of all people to allow androids to integrate into our societies. Therefore, FuTech only creates the best robots available. The first step is to replace the robots we are currently using, they have concluded their service and should have been replaced many years ago. This will improve every field in which they are being used at the moment. The second step is to let androids adapt to what we humans are doing, not only will they directly help our companies with their jobs, they will search for solutions that will increase profit. We need to allow our machines to work on whatever we can, so we always get the best results.

Faction Message (ooRP)

Cooperation

A very difficult choice goes with the creation of this faction, something risky and potentially stupid, I made it partially rely on the community. [/s] For real, though. The idea behind this is to make androids become a mechanic usable for every player. I will set up a page where your player characters can inRP buy any android type, which gives you free usage over them, be it as an assistant for your char, as a part of your stories, or even as a playable character. That means a big part of the RP is selling the product to the customer, you, the player. So I welcome everyone to take part in this by giving FuTech as many possibilities to help you, as possible. If you decide to buy an android, RP that it has technical problems, anything you'd like, apart from them being suddenly conscious, please.

What FuTech really acts as

Although it may look like it, FuTech isn't a trading faction, not in the same way as others. The shipping of this faction will basically only contain the inRP parts needed for the assembly of androids, which is rarely profitable if it doesn't even COST more, I haven't checked the routes yet. Apart from that, I want this to be more of an RP and PvP faction by fighting unlawfuls and escorting allies and so on. Which is why androids that are being sold to players will cost a bit of money, not much at all, of course. It's sort of a non-profit trade faction, the profit to me is the RP and possibility to add something new to the game, maybe androids will be a commodity one day, who knows.

Thank you, that's it down here for now!
