Bundesgrenzschutz Rheinland
Overview and Assembly
Scelus Poena Premit Comes

The Bundesgrenzschutz, or BGS for short is an organization of the Federal Republic of Rheinland with a mandate to secure the borders of the Republic against piracy, smuggling, acts of terror and other domestic and foreign crimes. In order to uphold this mandate, the BGS is granted the authority to detain, question, search and imprison suspects as is necessary, and use lethal force against those that refuse to comply.

The BGS draws it's origins from the provisional state militias of Rheinland's Imperial era, where ad-hoc formations would be empowered to deal with specific civil disturbances. As laws within Rheinland became centralized and foreign pressures began to influence civil unrest in the wake of the Empire and birth of the Republic, it became necessary to expand the role of such formations, and to codify them within the central government structure. And so the modern Bundesgrenzschutz came to be.

Among it's duties, the BGS serves to prevent piracy and trade interdiction, safeguard lawful installations and property, manage prisons and rehabilitation centers, combat criminal influences within the core and border regions of Rheinland and ensure the continued safety and unity of the Republic.

Organization

The Bundesgrenzschutz is a federal organization, organized into primary forces: The Domestic Garrison (Das Wachbataillon) and the Border Forces (Grenzschutztruppen). This structure allows a two-pronged approach to crime-fighting, allowing either force to serve as the 'Anvil' while the other acts as a 'Hammer' to deal with threats.

New recruits often serve with the Wachbataillon, do to the somewhat safer nature of deployment within the more heavily patrolled core regions of Rheinland. In the event of a war, the Grenztruppen serve much like the Military, acting as active guard troops against incursions.

Rheinland needs new factions! Good luck!

I might join later on.
That's a lot of ranks. How is that going to work in practice?
Looks actually interesting.

So, that's still being workshopped. A current front-running idea is to basically encourage faction members to make two different characters. Their starting character, who would begin at the lowest rank, and then once they've proven themselves an active member, a second 'Officer' Character, with Capital access.
Good luck.
and who exactly is the faction leader?
